I'll have to look at secondary criteria for NU/Platty, but otherwise, I'm pretty good with these rankings.
And let us be clear: the USCHO poll means absolutely nothing. Zip, zilch, nada, nothing. let the site keep churning it out, but understand that for your own bliss, you should ignore it completely. Is anybody buying Castleton as a top-5 team in the country? Really?
Why not? they are 2-2 against ranked teams, they are 19-3-1 on the season. Only 5 teams in the west with a .500 or better mark against ranked teams. Of the teams that are ranked ahead of them in the east 2 are under .500 against ranked teams1@.500 and then Oswego and Elmira. They played and beat all but 4 teams on the schedule...have not played very well the past 2 weeks but before that were rolling loss against Bowdoin 3-2 had a goal disallowed and out shot the 38-22,Colby they were just plain flat.
Look at your SOS metric. That's the reason many people won't buy the USCHO ranking.
Prof I agree but not much they could do about the schedule this year, you still have to give them credit for going 15 games strait without a loss no matter who you are playing.
Agreed. See Plymouth State.Nope, you don't.
Agreed. See Plymouth State.
You can't even compare SOS between Castleton and Plymouth State ..I know you like to throw that out there but say nothing about Plattsburg losing to Cortland, a 5-16-2 team
seeing as you want to give Sunyac all the props then take into account that Castleton beat Morrisville(who just beat Oswego and Plattsburg earlier in the year) and Brockport who beat Geneseo....you may not like it but they beat teams that have beat the teams that you DO give all the credit to
Believe it or not, as far as the NCAA is concerned, losing to a non ranked team does not hurt as much as losing to a ranked team! Go figure. BTW: You started the winning streak thing against weak SOS teams. That is why Joecct brought up Plymouth. You said "no matter who you are playing"
While I don't disagree the fact that some of the posters on this site don't want to give the Castleton team any credit and my point was they played who was scheduled and took care of the Suny team that were on the schedule...and these teams beat some good teams in the conference, so to purely say that their SOS was so poor they deserve no consideration is unfair, this being said I do understand the NCAA's formula but posters on here to? Castletons ability to compete is crap.
Bottom line is that Castleton faces their toughest weekend of the year this weekend. They have only faced 3 ranked games so far and have gone 2-1. If they get 2 wins against two more ranked teams this weekend, they should be in, going 4-1.
Adrian is 2-2-1 as of now against ranked teams and faces two more this weekend against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is 1-2-1 against ranked teams.
If Castleton wins they should be in. If they go 1-1 and Adrian wins both they are in. If they all split or if Castleton loses and Milwaukee wins twice, it is going to be utter chaos.

I get the message ....but there is a huge difference between Castleton's situation hear & now and Adrian's there & then. OHHH Adrian!!!!

Castleton have an opportunity to win to get in. I don't doubt that Castleton would compete well with tougher opponents, but unfortunately their schedule satisfy this important criteria. The respect for the program and the opportunity to be considered for invitation to the dance will only be achieved with quality wins and quality losses.
Be satisfied that Pool A is an option and take advantage.
Adrian's only chance in those early years was an at large bid.
The Castleton noise here isn't quite as loud.
