False. The current top 4 scorers in the USHL are all DI commitments for the 2011-2012 season. And unlike DIII, commitments to DI are contractually binding for at least the first year.
The current top 4 USHL scorers:
Ryan Misiak - Mercyhurst
Matt Berry - Michigan State
Vinny Saponari - Boston College
Alexx Privitera - Boston University
(source)
Better yet, Saponari is only in the USHL this year because he's sitting out a season in compliance with NCAA rules as he's transferring from Boston University to Boston College. (source) He and his brother were both dismissed from the BU team for disciplinary reasons (source). Oh, and he's a 2008 4th-round NHL Draftee... yeah, he's REALLY going to ACHA next year
This sounded false to me when I first heard it, and it took me all of 1 minute to disprove it. Thanks for playing.
Re: Here they go...
I have been told the current top 4 scorers in the USHL have all committed to Lebanon Valley. Two of them may even forego the second half of the USHL season to join the team at semester break. Huge pickups for the Flying Dutchmen...
