Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

You're right! The facilities and organisation for the girls are professionals A1 but what a mess for tickets reservation logistic! They reserved too much seats for the universities. They could have sold many more tickets for the general public who could not get tickets online!

Only 200 seats were reserved for each school for sale.

Anything Free tends to be slow. Ever been to a hotel where they offer free internet, but you can get the premium version for a fee. ?

I understand that, but if the NC$$ is using said WiFi to make hundreds and hundreds of dollars in profit, don't you think they may have wanted to stress test it first?

How does the NCAA make a profit on the WIFI provided for free at the venue ?.

My initial complaint was that the WiFi was slow at the merchandise sales area causing ridiculous wait times. I wasn't trying to access the Internet myself; I had 4G service on my phone. In retrospect, maybe the NC$$ should have done the same thing and set up their own hotspot.

Hotspot, or they would have been better served to have run some Ethernet.

 Why does a slow WIFI slow down merchandise sales ?. Are they not using cash or a lan/ether/atm type connection at those places ?. Relying on free wifi to do business transactions is a silly proposition. Bring a stick if the place is not wired and you run a business.

If Wifi is something being complained about as fans than the event must be going pretty well

Otherwise, I think the event is going just fine. The TD Center is a fine facility with ample parking, decent prices for concessions, it's still kept very clean, and they seem to be very supportive of the event. Unfortunately, my first experience after I walked in the door was spending some of my cash on Frozen Four apparel (I'm a big guy and I've made the mistake of waiting too long and having limited size choices). I literally waited 30 minutes to buy my stuff with only 4 people in line in front of me. It left a bad first impression but otherwise it has been fine.

The only other thing that concerned me was the no reentry policy. I went to see the UW-Minn game early but still wanted to attend our alumni gathering down the road. I walked in to signs saying "no reentry" everywhere. It wasn't until I talked to our alumni staff that I found out that we could get a stamp and reenter but then once the second game started, I guess you couldn't use the stamp anymore. I guess if the Minny or Wisconsin fans wanted to celebrate for a bit and then come back to watch the second game, they would have been prohibited from doing so.

I thought it was a decent venue. The public spaces outside the rink itself are a bit small but there's a reasonable choice at the concessions and a great view. The jumbotron is the best I've seen and the AV crew were great at updating it with facts, using logos and photos to make it more graphically interesting, etc. They did a "spot the difference between these two hockey pictures" at the interval which was a cute idea.
