Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Haven't posted here for a while, hope everyone is doing well. I'm down in Tampa now for a little bit, but looking forward to getting back up north once the summer is over.

Anywho, maybe it is the official announcement of the new jumbotrons and whatnot (which most of us knew were coming already), but it just motivated me to come back here and say how happy I am to be a Bobcats fan. Seems simple to say, I know, and maybe this is some late night, post-grad (don't get me started on that) nostalgia settling in, but sometimes it is cool to take a step back and look at what you have for a second. It is just exciting knowing that I attended this school for the four best years of my life, the hockey program blossomed in front of my eyes and reached an apex of the national championship game my senior year.

It just gets me giddy knowing that this is my team, and my school, and forever will be. There are a lot of promising things on the horizon for Quinnipiac, and I am proud to know that in some way, however small, I was a part of it in Hamden for four years, and will continue to follow it for the rest of my life.

....felt the need to say that. Go Bobcats!

As an alum, the exciting thing is how the school continues to vigorously support its' athletic teams. Not every D-I school puts as much effort into athletics as Quinnipiac does, and we should be proud of what they do for their athletic teams.

The main thing, really, is to get the faculty on board so they understand, have a buy in, and stop purity whining.

Seems all went well with Tiefenwerth's surgery:

Any word on if Clifton has fully signed on to come to Quinnipiac for the next season or is that still in question with whatever junior hockey option he was weighing?

Also, congrats to Peter Quenneville; 7th round to the Blue Jackets. Those NHL logos are starting to fill up the line charts now!

I think Peterborough is going to take a shot to get him but I think the fact that his brother Tim is also committed to Quinnipiac is huge in swaying him to Hamden.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

College hockey reporter Jeff Cox on twitter suggests that Clifton seemed very excited about joking QU. Doubt he goes to Pete's.

Considering how many defensemen we are losing to graduation, I sure hope this is true. Clifton is a big-time recruit and will surely be used at QU next year if he spurns Peterborough. Plus, how can he turn down those brand new jumbotrons? :D

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Your schedule is just about complete. I'm making an educated guess that your final opponent is Bentley, and the game will be played either December 14th or during the first weekend of the season.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Tons of current, former and at the moment future Bobcats on Development Camp rosters...

Edmonton- Connor Jones, Kellen Jones, Bryce Van Brabant
NY Islanders- Mike Dalhuisen, Michael Garteig
Calgary- Bryce Van Brabant
Vancouver- Connor Jones
Columbus- Peter Quenneville, Jeremy Langlois
Washington- Sam Anas
Pittsburgh- Eric Hartzell
Tampa Bay- Matthew Peca

Haven't heard about Jordan Samuels-Thomas but he remains the property of Winnipeg so he may be headed there.

Give 'em heck boys!

Couple things...

A clear concise unofficial 2013-14 schedule now posted on the blog. Click here to see it.

Also, rumor has it that Winnipeg has until mid August to sign Jordan Samuels-Thomas. JST will not be attending their prospect camp and if he doesn't sign then he becomes a free agent. The good news is that the big man will be back for his senior year with the Q.
