Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

It would be either Kendall or Brice if you're playing UAA and UA_ in Alaska. Those are both tournaments. They designed it that way so the teams travelling would assuredly receive the exemption. Since you are playing an Alaska team in Alaska, it does not count towards the 34 limit.

So they are exhibitions I assume out there.

They are not exhibitions; they will count towards your season standings. The NCAA rules have an exemption built in that if you play an Alaska team in Alaska, it does not count toward the NCAA sanctioned limit for the team that had to travel to Alaska. The same bodes true for Hawaii, but obviously there are no college hockey teams in Hawaii. It was designed because AK/HI were having trouble getting NC games or even into leagues because of the enormous cost associated with travelling to those states. Just read the whining in the nWCHA threads about the two Alaska schools having to play in the same conference.

Hoping with this run we will start seeing some higher end players commit to us earlier than usual.

Wednesday's Chronicle came out today and if nothing else there are some great photos. Good story by senior Joe Addonizio.

Must say it is still hard thinking about the end of this season. Even though it is just a game, even though this was an incredible season, I still sit here wanting more. It doesn't help that I had to go and cover the Yale celebration for a class ... That's when I started feeling sick again.

If anyone wants, I can start a money pool to buy Clifton a car to stay at QU!

I think the fact that his brother is attending is huge. If he wasn't I could see him heading to Peterborough and the major junior route. Going to Quinnipiac gives him options. He is likely to be NHL drafted in June so he going to college gives him time to develop as well as also going to major junior down the road if he wants to.

Ok Larson, stop teasing... I want to see that pic you couldn't get posted! ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

Anybody know what kind of player Quenneville is? Is he a guy that can step in and possibly play alongside JST and St. Denis?

Sounds like Connor Clifton and Fiala are two guys that can play immediately defensively. Figure the D pairings can look something like Federico/Tolks Barron/Hilbricht and Clifton/Fiara, which certainly could be worse.

I honestly think Clifton could get paired with either Federico or tolks. Would make the defense stronger from top to bottom.

As for Quenneville central scouting has him ranked 192 for north american skaters. I think there is a good chance he could be a top 6 line player from the get go.

Clifton is ranked 73 in central scouting. He is sure to be drafted by an NHL team.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats offseason: Redemption in Philadelphia 2014

While it's a little early to worry about next season (no it's not... who am I kidding? ;) ), I have a feeling we'll be a better offensive club and a little weaker on defense than we were this year. The increased goal production will negate the few more we'll allow. The only question mark in my mind will be in net. Gartieg is supposed to be the real deal but he saw next to no action this season (though I hear he was a workhorse in practice). Rouleau is supposed to be stout as well, so my guess is a 2-man rotation, at least to begin with.

No love for Jacob Myers already? Word was he was the top NAHL goalie before commiting to QU

I'd like to see a 2 horse race to begin with and if one guy gets into a groove then ride him. I agree the offense will be better next year. Thought I like the Clifton and Fiala additions at the back end and think they can add a lot of skill in the back end. Federico and Tolkinen along with Alex Barron and Hilbrich should be good enough on defense. I think Hilbrich could really break through as a sophomore especially with his size.

Garteig was one of the best goaltenders in 2011-12 in the BCHL. In 2011-12, he was 41-4-0 with a 1.93 GAA and a .927 save percentage with five shut-outs…In 2010-11, he was 36-8-3 with a 1.69 GAA and a .934 save percentage with seven shutouts.

And Pat McGann was a draft pick of the Dallas Stars!

Just a hunch I have, but I don't think Jacob ever starts a game for the Bobcats, even if he did stone Pecknold on a breakaway during Friday's open practice!
