Quinnipiac Bobcats - 2025 Offseason

Banquet Report

Team Awards:
Rookie of the year: Chris Pelosi
MVP: Jack Ricketts
Academic award: Mason Marcellus
Al Carbone 7th player: Victor Czerneckianair
Michael Torello award: Noah Altman
Coaches award: Travis Treloar, Noah Altman

Lori Onofrio is retiring and was honored by Rand.

Judy Olian was there and honored for her retirement.

The team has not voted on captains yet. Rand said in the next couple of weeks that should happen.

As far as the schedule goes Rand only talked about the early portion.

10/3 @ Boston College 10/3
10/4 @ Providence 10/4
10/10-10/11 @ ASU Icebreaker tourney. 10/10 Alaska Fairbanks, 10/11 winner of ASU-Notre Dame)
10/17-10/18 Maine at home
10/24-10/25 @ UNH

They will also be announcing a new Team Impact kid who was there with his family.

As always, a great time. The banquet has become one of my favorite hockey events because you get to see the guys in a totally different setting.

Good stuff. I think Victor is eventually the captain.

Totally agree. The end of the season banquet is always a great time. Best of luck to the seniors and, of course, Lori!

Despite only 2 home games in October, I love our early season schedule. Kicking off the 2025-26 campaign with 6 HEA games and 1 against either an NCHC or B1G opponent is going to be tough for sure. A strong OOC schedule is absolutely needed, especially if the ECAC has another down year.

I kind of think it could be a down year with some of the talent lost from other teams along with Cornell changing coaches. And let’s be honest they made it to the tournament just barely off the back of a weak OOC schedule. I don’t think can happen again.

Looking at the forwards in the portal, it doesn't seem like a good pool of experienced talent outside of Conmy (UNH) - and I thought he was rumored to Maine or one of the Boston schools. I don't know enough about the Atlantic hockey guys but seems like we don't take many this year. Hopefully the young guys develop.

Conmy is BC bound. Feels like the portal is really bare of good talent this year except for a handful of guy.

Looking like Rand will have to do it the old fashioned way... develop what he currently has.

Not too worried. If Pelosi, Schwartz, Smith and Borgula show improvement over this year along with the upperclassmen, we should be fine.

I still have questions in net. Neither Marinov or Silverstein showed enough consistency to calm my fears. At least one of them has to step up and fill the QU goalie mold we've all come to expect.

the bottom 6 outside of Victor is really bad and borderline unplayable. The top 6 cannot cover up how bad they are.

Who are you projecting as the bottom 6?

3rd line

Sykora-Czerneckianair-Vidicek

This line could be good. Victor is experienced and reliable at center but the other two will be first year guys. Sykora I expect drafted by an NHL team between the 4th-7th rounds. Vidicek is a talented scorer out of the Q that has had a past developmental camp invite with the Boston Bruins.

The 4th line is probably the biggest issue.

You have returning players in Cipollone, Power and McGroarty. They also are expected to bring in Matthew Lansing per my roster projections. None of the returning guys were good last year and frankly I wouldn’t rely on them having better years. They are what they are this point. Lansing has talent but really had an inconsistent USHL season that saw his draft stock fall considerably. They really need another quality forward from the portal because of the uncertainty of that line and what they will even bring.

I read in another thread that we have a road game at Merrimack.

So, as it stands right now, Quinnipiac's OOC schedule looks like this

at Boston College
at Providence (exhibition???)
vs. Alaska-Fairbanks (Ice Breaker Tournament)
vs. ASU or Notre Dame (Ice Breaker Tournament)
vs. Maine 2x
at New Hampshire 2x
at Merrimack (not confirmed)
vs. Boston University (not confirmed)
at CT Ice Tournament 2x
vs. Holy Cross (not confirmed)

That's too many games, hence Providence could be an exhibition game.

Providence is confirmed as an exhibition game. There is an unknown home game which is probably Holy Cross.

I would have loved to play an NCHC opponent (ex. Denver), but essentially playing a limited HE schedule helps in the pairwise.
