Quinnipiac Bobcats 2022 Off-Season

Looks like 2 games added to the schedule:

Sun 10/2 Providence in Hamden
Fri 10/7 @ BC

https://gobobcats.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/schedule

Im pretty sure the BC game has been on the schedule from the beginning but looks like the Providence game is new. Nice to see an additional home game but still does nothing to deal with the gap in home games from Jan 7 to Feb 17. I know there is the CT ice tournament and there is not a lot of open space with all the away games it just seams like a looooong break without a home game.

Correct, the BC game was already there and the PC game has to be an exhibition.

The BC game was not on the original schedule originally released on social media. The PC game is the day after our exhibition against the University of Toronto so it's got to be an OoC game.

Ah well it was on the schedule I had. Anyways the PC game cannot be on OOc game because then that gives QU 35 games and no exemptions in their schedule (@ Alaska, icebreaker, hall of fame game) so it has to be an exhibition plus it's at 2pm...

Is there not an exemption for the Freedom Four in Ireland?

Congratulations to Griffin Mendel on becoming an AHL Calder Cup champion with the Chicago Wolves.

Also, great season for the runner-up Springfield Thunderbirds that featured former Bobcats Sam Anas and Matthew Peca.

Ok Folks, I need some help getting excited for this year. First, only 13 home games, and the Providence game is the afternoon after the Toronto Thug game. Not a lot of time to make adjustments. I already know I'll miss a few home games due to conflicts with personal commitments. Second, Where is the scoring coming from? No Bonjo, No Chau, the loss of Smilanic doesn't upset me. DeJong, Skyler, Lipkin? Metsa will be Metsa, but losing Mendel will hurt the back end. I still think the D will be good, as the forwards are good defenders as well and aren't afraid to sell out. I hope TJ has a great year, he deserves it. I'm sure Yanni will be awesome in goal, but I think topping last year's stats will be next to impossible. I hear a rumor that he's human :). I don't think the league will be all that strong, so thinking/hoping a top 4 will be achievable. Are they an NCAA top 10 team? Hoping this isn't a rebuild year.

The schedule leaves no room for error. If the league remains weak in terms of PWR, the non-con games a critical. Almost have to run the table.

I, too, am not sure what to make of the team. I'm hopeful that Rand will whip them into shape but there's still a lot of unknowns. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I hate to admit that I'm the least excited with a little over a month to go than I have ever been. Hopefully that will change as October get closer...

The Providence home game is shown as an exhibition game on the Providence website.
That’s interesting. I guess that’s a good thing but didn’t realize they could play two exhibitions. I guess it’s another home game and really doesn’t count. It was added late. I would have thought with friendship and Ct ice they’d get a real 35th game. Oh well.

I have always thought that international travel was an exemption but it was pointed out above that it's not. Also, more than 1 exhibition game can apparently be played per season.

Just an FYI I called the QU box Office because there was an issue with my season tickets. While I had them on the phone I asked if there would possibly be any additional home games and was told that starting this year that the CT Ice would be held at the universities not in Bridgeport and that QU would be hosting this year. I asked what that meant for season ticket holders and was told that the 2 QU games for CT Ice would be part of the season ticket package but not the non QU games season ticket holders would have to buy those if they wanted to go to them. I am hoping what I was told is in fact true.

Turk,
I was told the same information a few weeks ago. If true, great gesture by the athletic department to include the games for season ticket holders.

When I renewed my tickets a few weeks ago I was going through them online and noticed the dates for the CT Ice and wondered what it was as I thought it was a mistake. Didn't think anymore of it figuring they'd disappear by the time the season rolled around. I guess that's a bonus if we're getting tickets for all 4 games as part of our season tickets.
