Quinnipiac Bobcats 2022-23: The Quest Continues...

MarkEagleUSA

C'mon Q!
A couple of exhibitions this weekend and then we begin. The quest is to get to Tampa. Along the way is the Friendship Four, Connecticut Ice, Cleary Cup, and Whitelaw Cup hardware.

With 5 returning grad students and a couple of good portal acquisitions, there's plenty of experience to lead this team. Add in some unfinished business from last season and it looks to be an exciting season ahead.

Go Q!

Here we are again:) Glad to be back.
Looking forward to see what this team can do. They seem to have all the pieces in place to go far.
I hope to get to the arena for more games than last year.

Very impressed with the total team speed….especially the ferocity of the forecheck. PC had zero time and space. They took severely frustration penalties. This style of play wears opponents down by the 3rd period. Insert clone players into the system with same DNA of players moving on. They looked 1.5 steps faster than Providence…a team with impressive individual players. I really liked CJ McGee

After 2 exhibitions this weekend I like what I see. Lots of talent and skill... all they need to do is put it together which I'm sure will happen. Providence was a great test. Big and fast but we kept up with them and limited their chances. I didn't see any glaring weaknesses and even the power play looked good.

With what appears to be a weaker schedule than we're used to and another possible off year for the ECAC overall, non conference games will play a big part in our success this season. Every game matters and the season starts Friday at Boston College.

My wife and I are making the trip to Conte... anyone else heading up?

Graf looked excellent. Too bad we only saw a shift or two of Lipkin - hopefully he isnt banged up too bad and we see him soon.

Good to be back! I was fortunate to be able to watch the game tonight, boys looked great, as I expected them too.

Aside from what I saw tonight, wanted to share some preseason thoughts. This has to be the most highly anticipated team in school history. Each year we made the national championship, we weren’t necessarily highly touted going into the year, if memory serves. Maybe 2015-16 teams but nonetheless, you get my point. With the grad returnees, Perets back and some help with some transfers, in my opinion Tampa is the standard. Of course there’s a lot we want along the way but I will be disappointed in anything less, and that’s obviously a highly privileged place to be in.

Tellier caught my eye with some high end plays tonight. Also what a rip from Legault. Love seeing that PP conversion to set a new tone to our biggest weakness last year, of course it was Metsa. Excited for the year, of course there will be up and downs, but the offense needs to be more consistent plain and simple.

Go Bobcats

Nice road win!

The BC radio announcers were brutal to us tonight. Basically calling Quinnipiac a "low budget" program that will never win a National Championship. They trashed our program, Coach Rand and the ECAC.

Whatever. 0-4-2.

Excellent game by the boys! Had BC skating in circles most of the night. Very agressive forecheck and good solid defense. When BC had chances, Perets stood tall. Mitch Benson (former Colgate goalie) was shaky and paid the price. Our ride home was very pleasant!

During intermission they showed the HE scoreboard. Lowell was playing Miami and they used the Miami Hurricanes logo! Apparently the scoreboard is run by the same types that did the radio call!

I will say Conte is a very nice barn. Big and bright and the crowd was loud. Not much for them to cheer about but the tried.

If we have a trash program, then they must think their own is a dumpster fire.

TV commentators were very complimentary of the program and Rand and were saying BC was playing well to have hung in for awhile, when it was 2-0 cause we are going to be a force this year. They obviously knew more about BC and seemed to forget we beat them in Tampa cause they kept talking about us losing to Yale but they were fair.

Didn't get to see much of the game, but from what I saw Perets looked extremely sharp. Lots of early-season sloppiness, but the beginnings of a good team are there. Looking forward to another great year of Bobcats hockey!

Went to the game. Perets was on like usual. Team came out strong. They had to withstand a BC onslaught kind of in the middle part of the game. The Charles Alexis Legault goal took the wind of out BC and I thought the Bobcats picked it up a notch in the third period. The conditioning showed. The last two goals sent the BC students to exits quickly.

Well that’s the complete opposite of the TV announcers….they praised the team and Rand all night long.

Played well enough to win but didn't. Officially a tie with a shootout win but will feel like a loss in terms of pairwise. LIU had nothing all day but capitalized on 2 bad Bobcat mistakes. And once again the power play didn't produce... yeah, we got out first goal on a PP but the rest of the game nada. Had chances and some good looks but no cigar.

Another case of playing down to their opponent. With the weaker schedule and likely another down year for the ECAC overall, they don't have many mulligans to play with, All they can do now is regroup and head to Grand Forks for 2 huge games against North Dakota. Should be a good test to show what they're really capable of.

This game looked like a replay of the LIU-Northeastern game. Same score in regulation with LIU banging every Bobcat they could catch, getting one good goal and one “oops”, and being saved by another great performance by their goalie Vinny Purpura. LIU has no conference and a really challenging road schedule ahead. If they can learn to string a few passes together to finish opportunities in the O zone, they will get wins against teams who don’t bring their “A” game. Clearly, the better team doesn’t always win.

North Dakota was the better team….aggressive on the forecheck…forced turnovers…talented 1v1 players… That being said…..they played two opponents tonight. They didn’t need the refs help on that horrendous 5/3 call. This is not the same D from last year. This kid from Lake Superior State Nordquist does not belong on the Q club team. He has been solely responsible for several huge goals already. All he does is turn the puck over in our own end. Please do not dress him again Rand…..please

I thought it was pretty even. Quinnipiac skill was on display by taking advantage of UND defensive mistakes as well as some very excellent placed shots that resulted in goals. The first period was especially bad for UND. Need to shore things up defensively tomorrow.
