Quinnipiac Bobcats 2019 ~ 2020 Season

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2019 ~ 2020 Season

Anyone know if the away games will have “radio”/internet from the QU side this year? I used to enjoy the postgame comments while leaving the arenas on WQUN.

Not optimistic -- the schedule page on the website does not have an audio link. That could change, but as of now it doesn't really look good though.

'Video killed the radio star', or the 2019 version 'Judy O. killed the radio station'

Q's tilt against Brock will be the Badgers' 3rd game in three nights with significant travel in between (St. Catharines, Troy, Hamden).. If the Cats don't hang double digits on them, I'll be surprised.

Those Canadian teams can get pretty chippy in those situations which is why I hate these exhibition games.

Agree Mark, but this is good for recruiting, because they do play the game a bit different up north. They play to get into the NHL and the claim in Canada is American kids play to get into college...not sure I disagree but it is what I was told by more than 1 person.

That said, important not to forget, Bobcats played Minnesota Duluth pretty tough! They gave up open net goals in a 3-1 loss to the national champions. But Duluth skated rings around them early....and they could have used Brandon Fortunato. Duluth draws average fan base of over 10,000/game at home. Lot of depth, experience playing in front of crowd.

KP is such a good person, this team will play for him. Question is how long it takes for the Defense to gel around him - QU AL will chime in t this conversation soon with some hard promises!

2019-2020 Quinnipiac Bobcats Men's Ice Hockey Season Preview
Great read!

I think last season we saw Priske restore the culture this team needs to be successful. While I agree that goal tending is the biggest question mark to start this season, I feel if Jermain & Co can keep that culture alive this team will go far. There's plenty of reason for optimism ad the season gets under way.

Go Q!

Doesn’t look like anything audio from QU aside from what the Q30 guys do. Rich C and Phil G will get the majority of the ESPN+ home work. No desire to spend money on the radio teams I guess.

From QU:

QBSN will be still be broadcasting the games over their airwaves, you can find them at theqbsn.com or http://mixlr.com/qbsn/

On the road, it will either be the video feed from the school or their audio broadcast if they offer one. We will not have radio sponsored by Quinnipiac on the road.

Sad for an elite program to ignore their fan base (and I do realize this is not the teams doing). Radio isn't the medium it used to be but sometimes it's the only option for many fans.

Well... saw a lot to look forward to. Most of the new kids look solid. I was NOT impressed by the effort of Petruzelli. Once agin, he seemed to have a confidence problem after giving up a fluke goal (clearly not his fault). After that he was shaky at best. Evan Fear looked strong in relief in the 3rd and the team battled back to tie a game that they clealry could have and should have won.

I find it interesting that the season's opening weekend with AIC looms extremely large in terms of what this season will be. Anything less than a sweep could be devastating right out of the gate. I think we can survive a split but getting swept might just put us in a hole that will be hard to climb out of.

Anyway, it was great to be back at the rink and I do feel we have a legitimate shot to make some noise this season. Hopefully, the new guys will find their legs quickly and adapt to the systems. The upperclassmen need to come out of the gate strong and lead by example.

Like I said, lot's to look forward to... now they just need to put it all together on the ice.

Mark my words....Fear is going to push Petruzzelli maybe even split time with him.

Hopefully Rand accomplished some of what he wanted and keeping Odeen away from the goons from the north was a smart move. These freshman will be very good and hopefully will gel together. I also like the size of these kids, much bigger than we are used to. They will battle with the heavy teams well.

I agree witth QUAlum that Fear will push KP and we’ll probably see some platooning, maybe even this weekend. Fear had NO FEAR in his eyes in goal. Even after a barrage and tough save he was joking with officials. KP looked like he was guessing at times.

Looking forward to seeing Tufto back out there this weekend. Is it Friday yet?

This might be the biggest Bobcat team... can't remember seeing so many at or over 6'.

Have no fear, Evan is here! ;)

Agree on the platooning... don't see any other choice as these early games are crucial for pairwise.

KP seems to fall apart when the team is chasing a lead.

Someone near us said Tufto was not a healthy scratch yesterday...

Tufto was not a healthy scratch from what I heard. Minor injury nothing serious....Interesting to see if he is available against AIC.

Mark - that is very good point. Been saying for years they need to get bit bigger...love what I was able to see the last period...especially with our Captain....
