Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

According to the QU Ticket office's email on Monday, the Quinnipiac Sections cover Sections 21-24. My buddy and I will be in section 22. Not sure if there are others that are designated as Bobcat-friendly.

Oh interesting. Lake placid ticket office had told me that when I called today.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Still no reply to my emails and I see no update on the ECAC site about tomorrow's games. I'll pay for the stream but it better be reliable or the league is going to hear about that as well.

To those of you in Placid, or heading there for the game, have a great weekend and rep the Q for me. I'm really torn about my decision to stay home but will be rooting from my living room.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Does anyone know if Boxcast is available to view after the game is over? I have to work tomorrow and I am hoping to watch the game when I get home.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

So I just tried to tune to the network the game is supposed to be on tomorrow in the New York City market, and it's not looking good. I get the channel, but the message on the TV says, "The content provider is not currently sending programming for this channel."

Thanks, ECAC. Bang-up job you're doing getting our league the attention it so richly deserves. This is in the New York City market, and that's the best you can do? What a disgrace.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

It's 10:00 am on game day and I still don't have a broadcast viewing option to watch the game 10 miles from the QU campus! Looks like it will be the stream for me. Another good job ECAC (and ASN).

I'm not paying for the stream. As much as I love Quinnipiac Hockey I refuse to pay for it when half the schools in the ECAC have endowments more than most 3rd world countries. This conference has the ability to find a real network to broadcast games but takes the cheap way out. Disappointing for teams like Quinnipiac, RPI, St. Lawrence, Clarskon and Colgate that provide free broadcasts of their games yet its other elite 6 that have a network that charges and the ECAC has to follow suit. I gladly listen to WQUN unless they fix the broadcast schedule.

While I agree with your sentiment, I simply can't listen when there's a viewing option. I have seen almost every minute of my Bobcats in action over the last 5 years or more. Today isn't a day to change that. I'll pay for the stream not because it's the ECAC, but because it's the Bobcats! ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I received a reply from Commissioner Hagwell:

Mark -

Good day! I appreciate your interest and passion for ECAC Hockey.

We too desire as many outlets to clear the games today. In fact, since we partnered with ASN, we have made our position known of the need to clear as many outlets as possible in the Northeast. Based upon discussions with staff of ASN, many outlets have commitments that prevent airing of our semifinals. As an example, two regional networks - Sports Net New York (SNY) and Comcast Sports New England (CSNE) - have contractual obligations that prevent them from clearing our semifinals. With regard to SNY, it is committed contractually the the Mets spring training game; and CSNE is committed to a Celtics contest. Similar scenarios play out with regard to other possible outlets.

Our No. 1 objective is to attain as broad exposure as possible for our men’s championship. We shall continue to work with possible television partners to enhance such exposure.

Regards,

Steve

I received a reply from Commissioner Hagwell:

Yes -- SNY is busy tonight. That's fine. I know this is a busy time of the year for networks. I would honestly prefer the games getting on ESPN3 than doing this ASN thing. At least we can be confident in the ability to receive the channel. BTW, in the NYC market, the ASN channel assigned to the game isn't even broadcasting. There's no video on the channel when I tune to it. Surely, the league can do better than that in the country's biggest media market.

The announcement regarding ASN wasn't made that long ago. Of course all the real network are committed. Maybe the ECAC should be working on next year's package now...

I'd almost rather they just made a deal with ESPN3 for the games. Maybe, if there's room, they can play on ESPNU, but I'd settle for ESPN3. At least that's something almost everyone gets.

I agree. ESPNU has NCAA Wrestling this weekend so not an option but ESPN3 is most certainly an option. The problem that I have is the $10 a game gouge. Who negotiated that deal and who is getting that? Probably not the schools to benefit the players.
