Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Not exactly hockey related, but interesting:

Centerbrook Architects - the peeps who designed the Bank, along with York Hill, Rocky Top and basically all things Quinnipiac - have posted a couple of interesting plans on their website for QU athletics. Haven't seen anything posted or announced on any official Quinnipiac account yet, but it seems to confirm rumors that we have heard about the next step of some of the programs for a while now.

Lacrosse & Soccer Stadium + Field Hockey complex: http://www.centerbrook.com/project/quinnipiac_university_soccer_lacrosse_field_hockey_stadia

York Hill Athletic Field House: http://www.centerbrook.com/project/quinnipiac_university_athletic_field_house

The new athletics complex on main campus will be next to and behind the alumni house off Hogan Rd. and looks pretty spiffy if you ask me. My lone question with that is where is the women's rugby team going to play now? Gotta imagine they get rid of the current soccer field, expand the north lot parking and maybe fit the pitch in somewhere around there.

As for York Hill, I like the continuity that the field house's ceiling will have with the Bank. I just have no idea where they are going to put it. I imagine it is going to be on that open patch of grass to the right when you first get up the hill:http://www.bvhis.com/images/bvh_i_quinnipiac-york-hill.jpg . If they are able to squeeze that over there, it will create one heck of a view when inside the facility, but ruin the initial view for those driving up to York Hill. I wonder how/if it will affect hockey traffic on game nights.

Either way, the facilities themselves look gorgeous, and I am very excited to see what the finished product looks like.

About time as I heard about the indoor track 3 years ago at the Frozen Four. They still have plenty of land up there as I think they bought about 250 acres originally. They will probably knock down some more trees.

I just saw the most disgusting and upsetting video from a Trump Rally and it makes me more upset that I don't have Q to watch this weekend! I blame not winning the Powerball on this bye week!

Trump is awesome. He has the courage to use common sense instead of what is politically correct. Go Bobcats!! QU MAT 2003.

That's amazing!

You guys have been on quite the roll this year and the kids on the team are great with the little kids in the area. About time for the USCHO poll to recognize where you belong. And while I know the polls make no difference, the growing QU/Yale rivalry is great for the area. Keep it rolling (at least until 2/27).

Yes, It has been quite a season so far. Thanks.
With ND's loss last night maybe the poll will change. Not that it matters, but it would be nice to see them given the props they deserve.
As for 2/27....I love the Yale rivalry (even if Allain is right and it doesn't exist). I wish Yale lots of luck in every game except that one.

Don't buy Allain's chatter. Theres a reason he doesn't say the word "Quinnipiac". Him being an elitist, he doesn't want to associate with us "normal" people. No love lost

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Looking forward to seeing the Bobcats in Alfond Arena on Tuesday night. The Black Bears have the second lowest goal production in the country at number 59. Only newcomer Arizona State is lower at number 60. Defensively, the Bears may do well against the Bobcats.

This statement tells me that you really don't know Coach Allain. Dropping the description elitist on him is very far from who the man actually is. If you actually knew him or maybe have spoken to to him, you would realize that he is a pretty straightforward guy from a large blue collar family from Worcester MA. He is not the most press and fan friendly coach out there, but to call him elitist is completely wrong. BTW, I think QU might have the talent to go all the way this year. No pressure.

Is that not an elitist personality trait? When you treat others like they are a waste of your time that makes you come across as an elitist... Perception is everything.

I'm not a fan of Keith Allain, but I have to admit he's a hell of a hockey coach.

As for your last statement, I agree. I think this team has more talent than the team that went to the Frozen Four a couple years ago. This is a really good hockey team. Couldn't really care where USCHO ranks the Bobcats, as long as they shut all the critics up in March and April.

I think the same could be said about Rand as well. He can be pretty disdainful. They wouldn't be the first two Coaches lacking patience with questions from the press. But I digress, I did not come on here to make this a ****ing contest, but sometimes perceptions can be wrong. Good luck the rest of the way, except for your 3 possible meetings with Yale.

You are absolutely right he is a great coach. And I love the direction the ECAC has been going. With teams like Yale, Q, Harvard all forcing these teams to recruit and coach better to keep pace.

I just mentioned the Allain thing because I get a kick out of his reaction when asked about the rivalry between our 2 teams. Didn't mean to start a thing.
No doubt he is a great coach.

I think a rivalry between two neighbors that also happen to both be great teams is awesome. How great would it be to see the two meet in the Frozen Four again? Only if QU gets to win this time of coarse :)

Both Pecknold and Allain both come across as jerks. Both are excellent hockey coaches and motivators. Fair enough?

Polls don't matter but USCHO has Q at one. 9 voters still not drinking the Kool Aid, they sure must be drinking something though.
