Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

As fans, we never do.

I'm not a fan of dirty hockey and have been known to call our guys out when warranted. There was a hit laid by Tim Clifton last night that the announcers were postulating might be a penalty. To me, it was a good, clean hit. This is D-I hockey, not peewee or mites.

Exactly. I mean there has to be some measure of big hits/stick work especially against a team like Harvard and a player like Vessey.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

unnecessary hitting as I have seen this year....and they are too talented a team to do that.

Wasn't able to watch the game. Was forced to follow on Twitter. So you may be right with most of your post and/or the Q fans might be right. It was this point that stood out to me. After watching hockey for many years at every level, if it's within the constraints of the game there is NEVER such a thing as unnecessary hitting. Hitting after puck release, hard, soft, kind of in the middle, always wears down an opponent. Quinnipiac more than ever this year has taken the body. Sure, there are times when its against the rules and whether that's called or not is on the refs. Quinnipiac does play a little more sandpapery than most but in terms of continually taking the body even when the play is moving on, that's just smart 60 minute hockey, especially early. To your remaining points, you may be right. To MEUSA's point, when Rand Pecknold is on your bench, 9 times out of 10, calls are not going to favor the Q Cats.

Good luck here on out.

There was a lot of stick work coming from Harvard also. Harvard got away with a lot of holding calls and interference calls. I didn't see the game the same as you, that's for sure.

Anyone happen to catch Vessy's "stick work" across the unsuspecting ankles of a trailing defenseman (possibly Barron) in Hamden towards the end game one? It goes both ways.

Last night was by far the funnest game we have have attended since we became fans. As horrible as it was that they let Harvard come back to tie the game, it sure made things exciting. The crowd volume when D. Smith scored the game winning goal was unbelievable! I hope they are invited back next year.
I guess we will have to accept the fact that they will never learn that no matter who you are playing or what the score is... You need to play a FULL 60 minutes every game. As has been the case all season they found a way to win, but not without stressing out their fans .
It was big night for Quinnipiac and the hockey program. I am happy that we were a part of it.

I'm loving this week of right before we jump into conference play, especially after that huge win on Saturday. I don't know if the boys would have came out focused this week or not. It would have been a tall task to get them to settle down and focus on the next one.

Quick question, when do they start to pick the next years OOC game schedules?

A good portion of that is probably already done as agreements are made 1-3 years in advance. They might not know exact dates at this point, but likely know who we'll be facing.

Awesome, I only ask because a bunch of us are going to start going to an OOC series/game every year and I don't remember who was said for next year. I know ASU is 2018.

BU in Boston and BC in Pittsburgh next season that I know of.

Rand usually announces the schedule at or just before the banquet.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I'm at work right now, so I am just going to make this a quick post:

Saturday night was unbelievable. Seeing every bar on and surrounding 7th ave packed with Quinnipiac apparel both before and after the game gave me chills. The game itself was too much fun. Having QU take over the Garden was just a surreal experience for someone who grew up going to multiple Knicks games there every year. Every time I stepped away from my seats for a second, I ran into an alum. Just an amazing, amazing experience.

Might be a bold statement, but Saturday night was my favorite QU moment since I graduated (possibly even including my time at school), easy.

Nothing bold about that... be proud of the blue & gold my friend! ;)

Remained #2 in the USCHO poll. Only 18 of 50 first place votes is surprising.

The comparables don't add up. Q is 5-1 vs. current Top 10 teams. NoDak is 1-1. Only comparable teams (St. Cloud & Maine), QU swept SCSU, NoDak split with them. QU beat Maine 4-0, NoDak tied them 1-1. NoDak's current strength of schedule according to USCHO's RPI is 26, QU's is 14. Krach has QU's as 8 and ND's as 26.

I know it doesn't matter. It's just mind boggling at this point.

North Dakota was essentially idle with an exhibition game. I guess the pollsters feel you can't drop if you don't officially play. I'm ok with that for now.

But should they have ever been there in the first place? If you look at the two teams side by side, QU wins every comparison except not existing for a million years.

As Mark said...Pairwise is king. I'm with you though, ND's schedule has been pretty weak. Looking at common opponents QU clearly has them beat. The difference is QU has to prove themselves, ND doesn't.

I was going to point that out but didn't want to offend the tender Crimson fans this morning. ;)

Doesn't offend me, it's the truth. The BU game was sold out; BU had the majority of fans, but the Crimson fans are not involved in the game even if they root for them. There are only a handful of people who stand and clap after a Harvard score. If you raise your voice in any manner people turn and look at you. I could understand throughout the mediocre years, but not now. I grew up a Bruins fan and the atmosphere at Bright is really appalling. These fans are a bunch of stiffs.

Good luck to you guys this year and I'll probably be rooting for you if you make the Frozen Four.

Is it safe to assume you're not an alum? ;)

Thanks and best of luck to Harvard the rest of the way. We may meet again before it's all over...
