Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Take the point and move on. Even getting outplayed all night, they hung around and stole that point. Two things were blatantly obvious tonight. First, they were tired which I guess you really can't fault them for. Second, Clarkson did what they needed to slow us down even more. It wasn't ugly but hopefully they can find some energy for tomorrow night.

The only one that looked good tonight was Garts. He definitely kept us in that game in the 3rd. They got a little spark after tying it but too little too late I think.

On the bright side, we're still unbeaten and there's no reason for panic.

I've heard alot of people say "Quinnipiac is peaking too early". That is certainly not the case. Lots of work to do

Garts looked great tonight, and their lone goal wasn't his fault at all. They were watching the puck on D way too much tonight. We are lucky only one found the back of the net. And honestly I think Q would have pulled out a win with a little more extra time. They may be peaking too early for maybe the ECAC Tourney but not for the National Tourney (I say this very lightly). Tommy Money looked better tonight, I think Chip said he is nursing an injury.

Get some rest and get ready to strap up because I think SLU is the better team we are going to face this weekend.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I think tonight we'll see what this team is really made of with the way they respond. SLU is quick, can score, and has a very good goalie. We have to use our speed and pressure them down low all night. D will need to be stout and Garteig on his game. We can't afford to come out sluggish or play sloppy.

The common theme in the presser last night was "regroup and reload".

Go Q!

Last night was pretty brutal but a point is a point. Eagle could't have said it better - tonight will be a big test for the boys. It'll be huge to see how they respond after a less than stellar performance. I was just waiting for Anas to sneak one in late last night ... Looking forward to a focused effort tonight!

I think you're exactly right. QU was playing QU hockey the last 10 minutes of the 3rd and in OT. Yes, they allowed a few more chances for CCT but they were playing a style that would have eventually not been in favor of the Knights.

QU came out flat and CCT took it to them, winning battles along the boards and frustrating QU. As the game went on, you could see QU losing their composure, running their mouths constantly to the CCT players and refs and took a number of cheap shots. They were admonished by the refs and linesmen after pretty much every stoppage in the second until finally McDonald heard enough and gave the 10 minute misconduct.

In the third period, they started to play a better style and they started getting better chances and more puck control. They almost won the game in OT after a giveaway by a CCT defenseman and then the forward took a run at our goaltender (which inexplicably ended up in coincidental minors).

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Regardless of your feelings of stealing one last night, and feeling anxious for tonight... I'm just as nervous for SLU to face off against you guys tonight. SLU has played a little loose defensively, outside of the Clarkson game last week. I don't think that bodes well against your guys if they choose to play run and gun all night.

I think a big factor will be who wins the transition game tonight. I'm admittedly not sure how much QU activates the defense in the rushes up the ice, but SLU does quite a bit. In fact, you could argue 2 of our top offensive weapons are defensemen ;).

That said, SLU (Like QU, from what I've read), looks to get offense from anybody and everybody. Hayton has had some shaky moments earlier in the year, but has put 2 fantastic games together against Clarkson and Princeton.

Hopefully we get to see a high quality game from both sides, and may the better team win.

I really hope Quinnipiac finds a way to improve the reliability of the stream as the season moves along. The video quality is fine, but it freezes up way too frequently. Tonight I turned it on at 6:45, I've already had to reload five times, and now I can't even load the website. Can't remember any of these issues last year.

Took me a bit as well. Some other SLU fans mentioned they had difficulties.

Guess you get what you pay for ;)

Pretty good game by both teams tonight. If you didn't find that exciting hockey, you should get to a doctor to check for a pulse.

Garteig with potentially a top 5 save across all levels of hockey. /hat tip.

Ties are alright sometimes, tonight is a great example. I don't think either coach feels that it isn't a fair result. I look forward to the return trip up north.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I think the boys looked good at times tonight and yet pretty sloppy once again. They played three extremely competitive games in 6 nights two ranked opponents which happened to be divisional games and a Uconn who threw the book at them in the first. My overall opinion is that the team needs to get back to the way we were playing in the beggining of the season. I was just very surprised tonight by QU's weak forechecking, sloppy neutral zone play and the amount of giveaways which lead directly to oppurtunites for St. L. They had their flashes of some good play and ringing the post, But I just hope this upcoming weekend we can get our legs back and return to the structures that got us off to a good start to a long season and hopefully these ties which are much better than losses don't get me wrong will do away with this distraction of going undefeated even though they haven't lost yet. Gartsy really stood on his head this weekend as well or we might have been looking at two in the loss column.

The single most impressive performance by a Bobcat goalie that I have ever seen! Garteig was phenomenal tonight. Too bad the rest of the team wasn't at their best.

I'll take the tie and 2 points for the weekend.

Rest up, eat turkey, take it to UMass.

I have to check for a pulse and I thought it was exciting. Still trying to breathe normally.

A tie was fitting for us anyway. Still not our best effort but better than last night.

Great play by both goalies though I thought Garteig was lights out.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Ok... I really hope that this weekend was just an anomaly. Definitely not the same team that went 11-0. Whatever excuse you want to use, be it tired, no legs, etc, the fact remains that they did not play at all like they had been. Both nights Rand talked about selfish play and last night he used the term "going rogue". They need to settle back into the rhythm that carried them through those 11 wins. With the holiday week and no classes, maybe they can get a little extra rest and be better prepared for UMass. It will be a good way to get back to the style they need to be playing.

There's something to be said for the winning streak getting too good to them. Sometimes you need to lose a little in order to win. I, for one, wouldn't be opposed to a loss in the near-term, in hopes that sort of wakes them up. A group that doesn't like to lose sometimes needs to be reminded what it feels like.

https://www.charityauctionstoday.com/auctions/camo-jerseys-171

Hey guys! Saturday is the when the auction ends and there are still some jersey's without any bids. Anas #7 is already up to $500 with Gartieg #34 at $400. I know that some of the more popular numbers already have steep bids but maybe go for one of the lonely ones! Just so that we all remember, some of the proceeds will be going to purchase similar uniforms for other athletic teams, who wouldn't want to see the Basketball teams with camo jerseys?!? The majority of the proceeds are going to the Gary Sinise Foundation which is founded by the really cool and great American LT. Dan from Forest Gump, just for a little visual aide. But what they do, in a nutshell, is build/modify homes for injured service members so that they can function on their own within the confines of their home. Help out the SVO, just in time for the holidays too.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

The same guy is the leading bidder for Anas, C Clifton, St. Denis and Garteig. Holy money bags. I'm gonna go in last minute on one. Depending who is still reasonable.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

I learned two things about this team 1) Q can't motivate themselves for every game and can play down to opponents at times. 2) The Bobcats can not show up for games (minus a goalie) and still not lose.

Was really disappointed with the Clarkson loss. Didn't see the SLU game but Q lived up the hard work goals the first 11 games. They wern't going bar-down left and right. They would pound the crease and work hard to get one across. Seemed from Friday and what I heard from Saturday they didn't do that. Now both teams historically cause problems for us for separate reasons but this was bound to happen at some point (and they still didn't lose). We could all pull the 5 games in 9 days card but thats such a lame excuse and every team deals will it at some point. Interested to see how this week plays out.
