Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Congrats on an amazing season. You ran into the one team that was hotter than you.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Tough night for your lads, but upon reflection the players, coaches and fans will understand what a terrific season Quinnipiac had. Congratulations.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Congratulations on a great season. The pain is great now, but it will subside and you'll look back with pride on this year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Tough game for Hartzell and Q faithful, I feel your pain, but a season of which to be proud.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

A swift kick in the rear to the classless Quinnie fans who booed at the Hobey Baker ceremony when their player wasn't picked. What a bunch of morons. I hope this isn't representative of other fans. Unbelievable!
Try again moron. The crowd was cheering "Drew" for LeBlanc.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

It was still a great season and nobody can take that away from us. Sure, it stings... probably a bit more since it was Yale, but the fact remains we accomplished a ton this year and the whole hockey world knows who Quinnipiac is now. There's many more highs than there are lows. The kids gave it their all all season long and left everything on the ice.

I feel bad for the seniors, but they should leave with their heads held high. They have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks to the entire team for the most exciting season I've had as a fan. This weekend in Pittsburgh has been a fantastic experience and, even in defeat, I'm still proud to say I'm a fan of this team.

Is it October yet?

Go Q!

Great season by Q! That game was not in hand until the third and could have gone either way. Good luck to the seniors and any early departures in their future pursuits. The University and the Hockey Program have done a great service to the local hockey community by raising the bar and filling the void along with Yale after the loss of the Whalers and AHL hockey in New Haven. Keep up the good work!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

As you may guess from the user name I am a Harvard fan and did not have a horse running tonight but watched with interest. It was truly awesome hockey played by both teams and a joy for a hockey fan to watch. All the players were good but both goalies did an amazing job under a lot of pressure.

Yale may have won but Quinnipiac can certainly hold their heads high.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Great Season QU.
You handed it to us three times this year, and brought a new level of attention to your growing University.
The greater New Haven area is better for having you around.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Just about the worst I've ever felt after a sporting event. Just totally gutted.

I said it yesterday on this forum -- Yale wins if Malcolm outplays Hartzell. Well, guess what. Malcolm outplayed Hartzell tonight. Ballgame. No one thought that would happen. No one. The reason we thought Yale was a better matchup than UML was Malcolm in goal. The kid made some incredible saves in the first 45 minutes, and those saves won Yale the national title.

Add to that, Hartzell will want those first two goals back, and that's your ballgame right there. I didn't even think Quinnipiac played a bad game. The one complaint I have is they shot into Malcolm's chest all night, but that's more an indication of how ridiculous his positioning was. He was unbelievable tonight. He singlehandedly won Yale the national title. And I'm not trying to take anything away from the Elis when I say that. They were a completely different team than the one QU faced earlier this season. Their defense was incredible. Took away all time and space, Quinnipiac had the hardest time they've had all season in terms of getting offense started. In prior games where we were able to cycle with impunity, Yale smoked it out with ease. That's the best defensive effort against Quinnipiac I've seen all season. Absolutely remarkable.

And even with that incredible defensive effort, if Malcolm isn't playing like superman, we probably have 3 goals on the board after two periods, and we win the title.

Congrats to.... ugh... congrats to .... no, I can't do it. Congrats to the ECAC on its national champion. This one hurts.

Congrats to the Quinnipiac program, especially Rand, Reid, Bill, Jack McDonald, and everyone associated with this program. Most exciting sports season I can ever remember experiencing.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

I don't think the score was indictive of the play on the ice. Malcolm was the difference. Miller's breakaway came on one of the few mistakes we made, and Hartzy surely wants those first 2 back. But, I think they left it all on the ice. The game wasn't a stinker even if the scoreboard showed otherwise. It's ok to feel bad about the loss, but look at the entire body of work this season and there's still plenty to smile about.

Completely agree. We were fine in this game. Certainly not as good as Thursday, but we were fine. Good enough to win. Some bad luck, and some uncharacteristic play from the best goaltender in the country. Just a shame it happened in the title game.

Being my ever-optimistic self, I'll repeat the old adage: to win a championship you first have to lose one. Well, we lost 2 championships this season so the monkey's off our back, right? ;)

Great season by Q, congratulations, especially to that amazing senior class.

Mark, when you start the offseason thread, may I suggest the title: "Frozen In Time"

Saw this on QU Athletics Site:
..............

QU Bobcats,

Words cannot express our gratitude to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and fans who have been so supportive of our Men's Ice Hockey Team and all our teams and programs.

Tonight's NCAA Frozen Four Championship game was a "small bump on a perfect ride".

The past few weeks, Quinnipiac has shown the world what a very special university we have.

We are very, very grateful to all that have worn a gold t-shirt, travelled to a game, watched a game, listened to a game this past season.

Our fans are as good as our teams!

Go Bobcats!

Jack McDonald
