I am a Quinnipiac fan insomuch as my older son went there, so I am amazed at the discussion on this thread. No discussion that QU might not make it past the opening round? The Bobcats have been very mediocre of late and they are playing the hottest team in the country right now in Canisius. No one is concerned?
I don't think anyone has really expressed a feeling either way. I haven't seen anyone boasting that QU has a free-pass to the semifinal game, nor is anyone talking about potential match-ups against BC/Union.
When it came down to it, any match-up QU got was going to be no cake walk even as the one seed. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they lost Saturday, but if the same team that played Cornell shows up, I don't think they will lose. While QU looked very bad against Brown, that was a team that had QU's number all year. As it's been said many times, sometimes you just don't match up well with a team.
For all the Yale fans that read our blog, Yale has the support of the New Haven area, along with most of the ECAC. Your division playoff with Minnesota will be difficult, but we know Yale can produce under pressure.
Hi all, still in Fla., we will be home in time for the playoffs. (Sect 230 Row B- bought them 4 weeks ago, how is that for confidence) We will see the Panthers tomorrow night. For all the Yale fans that read our blog, Yale has the support of the New Haven area, along with most of the ECAC. Your division playoff with Minnesota will be difficult, but we know Yale can produce under pressure. There is nothing I would like more than to see a QU/Yale matchup in the FF. To the Bobcat fans, this has been the most exciting season I have ever seen, regardless of the outcome of the playoffs. See you at Bar Louie, Sat. 3:00 PM. Providence. Go Bobcats. JF
When they played Cornell game 1 or 2?![]()
The only reason I would like to see Yale in the Frozen Four is because I know that we can handle them (granted we would have to get there also).
Speak for yourself Jimbo. I hope the Gophers make quick work of our uglier, nerdier neighbors.
Quinnipiac is the worst No. 1 seed ever, according to some. At least we'll go down in history for something AMIRITE?!?!?
Seriously, though. Of course Quinnipiac hasn't played its best over the last month or so, but I got the feeling after Saturday's consolation game that this time of year finally clicked with the guys. Hopefully that carries through to this weekend and Hartzy kills it. I'd love to see Langer break out in Providence. He's been deathly quiet since the turn of the calendar.
To anybody attending my banger Saturday night in Rhode Island: We will have electricity but no running water. Luckily we'll have running beer. Girls are not allowed.
Go Bobcats!
At least they won a game. Except for Union, that's more than can be said for the rest of the ECAC recently. Can't be any worse than Yale in 2011...
I'm looking at it this way: our struggles over the past 4-6 weeks were due in large part to all the distractions of being ranked at the top. The media pressure alone had to be unbearable. While I'm sure that hasn't gotten any better, this is crunch time. It's all one-and-done from here. The seniors are going to have a say in Saturdays game. They all know it could be the last of their college career and I'm sure none of them want to go without a fight.
All any of us can ask of this team is to play with heart and desire... to leave it all on the ice. Win or lose, if they do that then I can accept any outcome. Sure, a loss will be disappointing, but at the end of the day, they have given me more as a fan this year than I ever thought possible.
What are we, chopped liver? At least they won a game. Except for Union, that's more than can be said for the rest of the ECAC recently.
