Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Holy cow! Good for you guys! After RPI's game ended the announced the score-it was 9-0 at that time-and we all just laughed at the idea that Quinnipiac hated losing that much they were going to make sure it didn't happen again!

The refs did a good job of not letting anything get out of hand in the early part of the 3rd.

That's good-ours did not call much early on and the game got out of hand fast, and it looks like several players got hurt. I'm hoping tonight is called tighter.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Actually, really bad job by the refs defusing an explosive situation. At the end of the second, it should've been game misconducts for all instead of 2s and 10s. McCarron, in particular, could've used a shower. I suspect the "lightness" of the penalties has something to do with Stewart, and I don't like that policy if it is one; indeed, one game DQ—are they off the table?—per side and stern talking to each team at the outset of the third could've set the stage for a respectful, brisk third period.

As it was, McCarron was on the ice to lay on a bad elbow, which I actually didn't see but can't imagine wasn't there; then Goodman took a run at Ryan, our best defenseman. Both really stupid; really dangerous. Take a run at McCarron, fine, but please leave our crafty, clean-playing defenseman out of it.

Pecknold should've called off the dogs when Kanji went in. If I were Pecknold, I would rather play a chastened, doubting-itself Cornell rather than a focused, angry Cornell. To each his own.

As of 3pm nothing posted online about any suspensions. I'm taking that to mean there won't be any, at least for tonight. Seems a bit odd considering they did suspend Van Brabant for a hit he wasn't even penalized on.

Hopefully you'll be there too. I really want to see that torn, conflicted look on your face! :D

Hey Meusa, Nice job by you and your hooligan cronies in not allowing yesterday's contest to deteriorate into a Why-I-Oughta versus The-WWF fracas. Job well done.

And by the way, the Cornells were out here for a two game series in early January. The Big Red managed 25 penalties in the series including 12 for 76 minutes on Saturday night. After the Saturday night game there was no post-game handshake line as the refs had to step in and stop the Cornells from going semi-ballistic. I've been watching and attending college hockey games since the late 1950s and that's the first time I've seen a series end without a post-game handshake line. Coach Shaffer has a buncha quasi-trained skating gorillas or maybe that should be guerillas.

So, I understand tonight's game promotion is Free Body Armor Night. Should be fun. ;)

IIRC the year correctly, 09-10, Cornell refused to shake hands with RPI after what they felt was a late hit by an RPI player....who looks a lot like a current player ;) I wonder how many other times "Fat Mike's" teams refused the after-game handshake.

Nothing promotes reminiscing about bad behavior by other teams years ago like a cheap shot by your team last night.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Congrats to Quinnipiac on a hard fought win, in a hard fought series. Good luck next weekend in Atlantic City!!!

I was checking Twitter while driving home from work...

I'm at the red light getting ready to get on the highway, see Ken Sweeten's tweet, and just go absolutely crazy yelling, screaming, clapping... it was epic

And some say you shouldn't care that much when you're an alum.

LET'S GO BOBCATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome! Simply awesome! What a finish! Bui for President!

Unbelievable... The magical season continues next week in Atlantic City. A tough Brown squad will be looking for glory but we'll be looking for the bling!

Congrats to the Bobcats for a hard earned win and a great series. Kudos to Cornell for coming out and doing what they needed to do, at least for 2 periods tonight. Credit to Q for not giving up and playing better as the game wore on.

Congrats to Yale, Union, and Brown as well for making it to the championship weekend.

And, thank you boys for one of the best birthday presents evah!

MinniQUfan was there tonight and the smile on his face after the game was priceless, as was Luke's and everyone else's around us.

Bittersweet to realize it was the last game at home for our seniors, but they have worked hard over the last four years and really made next week and beyond possible. An awesome group of guys doing an awesome job. The best is yet to come.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Stay classy, Cornell.

And, have a nice summer:

Cornell coach Mike Schafer had words for Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold after Saturday's 10-0 pasting, and he was livid tonight, too. Schafer had words for Pecknold, and continued to rant as Pecknold walked away while assistant Reid Cashman interceded and tried to calm Schafer down.

Let me guess: He was upset Quinnipiac put so many shots on poor, defenseless Andy Iles. What a whiner. Get your tee times ready, Schafer.

Maybe he'll announce tomorrow that he's never bringing his team back to the Bank like he did out in Colorado.

Get a grip, Mike. The better team won this weekend. It's not like the Big Red didn't have a chance tonight. They were in the game all the way until Mr. Bui sent them packing for the looong trip back to Ithaca.
