Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11
"It seemed that with my class the hockey culture died out with the students. There were a couple of guys trying to bring it back and stand in my former spot, but now they are working for QUN and their spot by the boards is now inhabited by those dreaded sitters. "
Think everyone will argue that it's their class. I left in 2008 and then the few games I came for in 2009 were already slipping. Saw one last year, huge drop. Only been to the UNO games this year so I can't say from personal experience but...
(Probably not) Coincidently, around that time, the recruiting classes became thinner and thinner. Always said that we need a consistent winner for campus buzz to be sustained. In the "glory years" games were low supply and high demand (Northford) so everyone who was there wanted to be there. When the new arena came along the new fans had people to look to know when to cheer for a PP, to chant to pick the team up and so on. Now with a mid-table team and a trip to the arena a mere step out the door, it doesn't mean as much to go to a game any more. But more importantly there's fewer and fewer people to, for lack of a better term, cheer lead.
Anyhow, tomorrow, with an impending February Halter Top Day, I have a feeling the drinks will be out early and the student section will be LOUD.
