Re: Rand has 1 more year

Do we have ANY chance of getting by the 1st rd of the conf tourney? I really have my doubts. I think Rand has lost the team

Of course we have a chance. We're usually a different team in the playoffs and play tough when it counts. I'm not really worried at this point. To be honest, we have 4 more games to get through before we can begin thinking about the playoffs.

Once upon a time this was a annual debate. We've gone right past semi annual and gone to quarterly.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

How have the crowds been as of late? Any student excitement for this weekend? 5 years ago, campus would have been semi buzzing for this game.

Quinnipiac early last week announced a sell out and no tickets being available. I got an email from Q yesterday saying a limited number of tickets were available to grad and law students, so I may scoop up an extra. The RPI game two weekends ago had the student section full, granted they ALL sat on their hands the whole game and only stood for t shirts and Miley. Hopefully, they'll grasp the gravity of the game when they see the rest of the arena standing 5 deep and actually caring which team scores.

It seemed that with my class the hockey culture died out with the students. There were a couple of guys trying to bring it back and stand in my former spot, but now they are working for QUN and their spot by the boards is now inhabited by those dreaded sitters.

Regardless, it's the Yale game. It'll be packed. It'll be loud. They'll be too wasted to even know they're at a hockey game...but they'll yell. I think the buzz you're referring to is long gone. A buzz that was knowledgable about the game, the scenarios and the circumstances. Now, the buzz is more like ants gathering around a piece of candy on the floor. They know it's something they want to be around, everyone else is doing it. While they're there they enjoy it, but don't necessarily get it because their brains are too small. Hopefully, I'm wrong about our current student body but when it comes to school spirit and hockey smarts they fall short.

Mark,

I promise to be as optimistic as you for the rest of the season. I look forward to seeing you and allnightwong Friday evening when the Bobcats beat Yale!

This is such a great and hilarious description of the facetimer, I got quite a chuckle out of it.

Think everyone will argue that it's their class. I left in 2008 and then the few games I came for in 2009 were already slipping. Saw one last year, huge drop. Only been to the UNO games this year so I can't say from personal experience but...

(Probably not) Coincidently, around that time, the recruiting classes became thinner and thinner. Always said that we need a consistent winner for campus buzz to be sustained. In the "glory years" games were low supply and high demand (Northford) so everyone who was there wanted to be there. When the new arena came along the new fans had people to look to know when to cheer for a PP, to chant to pick the team up and so on. Now with a mid-table team and a trip to the arena a mere step out the door, it doesn't mean as much to go to a game any more. But more importantly there's fewer and fewer people to, for lack of a better term, cheer lead.

Anyhow, tomorrow, with an impending February Halter Top Day, I have a feeling the drinks will be out early and the student section will be LOUD.

If allnightwong is hanging around, you should know that you have to update your picks for RPI PtC.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Is anyone NOT excited about tonight? This should be epic.

It's going to take our best effort to pull off a win but I'm confident we can do it with the home ice advantage. The Bank will be rockin' for sure!

The key to tonight will be solid D and a strong effort in net. Neutralize or limit Yale's speed and put a ton of rubber on net.

Is it game time yet?

C'mon Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Play a tough physical game and you should be fine.

Three of Yale's four ECAC losses thus far have come from non-ivies. Keep the streak alive! (never mind the one that couldn't, they suck anyway :p)

EDIT: Forgot about Brown. :o
