Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

waitin' til last minute were we? :P
Better late than never. ;)

While today is just an exhibition, I'm excited for the start of another season. Here's to hoping that 2010-11 brings much success. Looking forward to seeing all those familiar faces at the Bank.

Go Q!

Just for reference:
2009/10 season threads had 1497 posts over 2 threads.
2010 off-season thread had 317 posts over 1 thread.

Hockey season has begun!

Was nice to see the team on the ice again. I was very impressed by the new guys, especially the Jones brothers. They played together with Zervy and if that line stays together it could be awesome!

All in all a great effort by the guys. Can't wait to see them get under way against OSU on Friday.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I almost forgot... maybe the best thing to happen today: I bought a road blue jersey!

They're now selling them at the kiosk at the Bank and I saw several of them scattered around the crowd.

Sure made my day.

Not a bad introduction to our Freshman and a quality exhibition game all in all. The Jones bros. look like the real deal and if they stick with Zurvy as a line mate they could be lethal. The other four freshman (Dunbar, Robinson, Hibbeler and Tolkenin) were not offensive either. All seemed capable and should contribute this year.

On a side note Bouharevich and Tolkinen both felt the harsh side of these exhibition tilts against these low level Canadian schools. The teams get frustrated when they are behind and take dirty cheapshots for the bulk of the game. Yuri's was especially ugly as his head went directly into the boards. It is kinda one of those things where these teams know they won't and can't be punished by their actions, so it's they go with a "whatever it takes" mentality. I don't like soft hockey, like the type that is being played in the NHL these days, but when these talentless hacks simply go for blood in an exhibition game it really grinds my gears (thank you Peter Griffin). There is no place for it and I think D1 teams should rethink who they are playing in these exhibition games.

Other than that...good to be back at the Bank and can't wait for Friday when we invite a real college hockey program to the arena.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Had a fun time at the Bank today and I am excited to see how the boys play on Friday and what the crowd looks like. All the freshman on campus seem to be excited about the season. Loved to see the away blues in the stands and shops today. I think the highlight for me had to be Dalhuisen's shorty with ten clicks on the clock in the 2nd. I couldn't stop laughing when he took that backhander off the right post. It sure was beautiful for a d-man. Wonger...told you those guys were dirty!

Here we go now Q.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Dalhuisen's shorty
That was beautiful to watch.

I thought he really played well overall today and we need him to step up more often with those lasers from the blue line. I look for him to be a big presence for us defensively this year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Hi,

Does anyone know what happened to Mathieu Cadieux. He's not listed on this years roster. (i'm assuming he transferred but to where?)

Looking forward to making my first trip to the Bank this season on Saturday

Go Bobcats!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

From the last thread: Zitoun scored an unassisted goal against a North Dakota team that included Jonathan Toews and TJ Oshie. Legend status right there.

Blue road jersey being sold just made my day. How does it look Mark? Going to try to talk myself into buying one.

Super excited about the road blues. I've been complaining about wanting to have one for a few years now. Not sure if I want to get one now or wait to see if one magically shows up at Christmas or not, I did say I've been talking about it for years, LOL.

Dal's shorty was awesome to watch, especially since it was during a 3-5 situation. It shows some forward thinking on his part.

It was nice to see eveyone crashing the net yesterday to try to make plays. If they can keep that kind of agression it should make for some interesting scoring chances as the season moves on.

Bring on OSU Friday night!!!

Great point. Everytime Connor Jones was on the ice it seemed like he was trying to make a play in front of the net. It did seem like him and Zurvy got crossed up cycling behind the net a bit, but I am not even remotely worried about that. Heck it was an exhibition game. I had read an article about the Jones Bros. early this year talking like any other pair of twins in sports, that they can almost sense where the other one is on the ice... well it certainly looked that way on that breakout pass from Kellen to Connor. Lot of fun watchin' those guys play, lot of fun seeing them with Zurvy..wonder how much we will see of that. I also liked to see Davies out there on the PK. I have always like him there. Great kid, smart kid especially in the classroom. Seems like a real class act.
