Yes, all the games. We're 128-0-14 against Minnesota. I was pleased last weekend with the Saturday sweep over Minnesota.

North Dakota did not start its hockey program until the 1946-1947 season. We don't count games before then, even if they were victories because it wasn't a varsity sport. It was a club team, made up mostly of football players who knew how to skate that didn't even have a coach.

And how is that any different than any other early hockey team? Gee, they all had no scholarships, coaches, or even buildings to play in. Bud Wilkinson, the great football player and coach, played on Minnesota's hockey team. Most schools love keeping their early history, but UND always tosses it out, because it hurts your over-all record against Minnesota.

Most schools love keeping their early history, but UND always tosses it out, because it hurts your over-all record against Minnesota.

I love our early history as well, but unfortunately we didn't start our hockey program until 1946. The teams that played against Minnesota before then were not the University of North Dakota. That's why we don't count those games in the overall record.

What's funny, is that Minnesota only counts the wins, and throws out losses that their club team suffered against our club team. Interesting.

Regardless of what the current win/loss record is, it certainly has been creeping closer and closer to even over the last few years. If this trend continues, it will only be a few seasons until UND surpasses UMN in overall record. Then I'm not sure what Happy will do with his posts.

I figure at least two games a year. Minimum. I think there will be a BIG push for four games. Especially from the younger fanbase, where the "biggest rival argument" seems to heavily shift away from Wisconsin and more towards NoDak.

Yeah, I figured Happy would have no comeback for that. My main point being that Minnesota doesn't count their club team's records as a part of their Varsity, so why would it make sense that UND would count their club team's records? The fact is, when the school's varsity programs have met up, Minnesota has a 5 game advantage. That has gone back and forth throughout the long history between these two sides, and is trending towards North Dakota. Given the pace over the last five years and where each program appears to be going, I would think in th next five years that North Dakota will take over that advantage.

What's funny is I really don't care too much about the overall record, but it's the only vestige of an advantage that Gopher fans have in the rivalry with the Sioux. I would like to see that disappear.

While there might be a push from Minnesota for four games, it's not feasible for North Dakota so long as they are playing 28 conference games. In my opinion, and I've stated this a few times elsewhere, is that Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota should get together for a Beanpot/GLI/Showcase type tournament every year. They could rotate the 4th team between the other Minnesota schools, and host it at the X and split the proceeds 4 ways. It would most likely sell out, and it would keep the rivalry (along with UND/Wisco) together. In addition, the schools could have a home/home series (split over 2 seperate weekends) or rotate a series each year between the two schools.

I think both schools want to keep the rivalry, but North Dakota isn't going to travel down to Minnesota every year, and they most likely won't be able to play 4 games/year. This idea allows for the schools to play 2-3 times per year with each school getting a home game every year or a home series every other year. It also is a way for Wisconsin to keep some of its rivalry w/North Dakota.

You don't think the WCHA is going to restructure their conference/nonconference schedule? Especially when you have two teams dropping out? I mean hell, that's why that stupid fat bastard in wisconsin wants out of the WCHA. Or at least that's the only rational explanation I can surmise.
