Hearing Hayden and Vinny coming back for their senior season...

Re: Providence Off season Thread 2018: Insert Clever Title Here

Divver's tweet

Nate Leaman today on @FriarsHockey flight risks Hayden Hawkey (Montreal) & Vinny Desharnais (Edmonton): 'I met with both of them this week and both of them told me that it’s all about next year'

Re: Providence Off season Thread 2018: Insert Clever Title Here

Agreed. He's at least in the top five forwards we've had in the Nate era.

I think at worst the third best they have had under Leaman and an argument can be made the best forward.

The Friars will be aying Miami three times next season then because they are scheduled to play Miami in the Ice Breaker Tournament then host them for two games.
Thank you for posting the preview of next seasons schedule. I was dying to find out who they might be playing. Love the trip out to Denver! I live that they'll be playing the Pioneers.

So 24 Hockey East games just reversing the 4 extra games so BU and Mass comes twice. Above is 8 games, we have the Mayor’s Cup so just 1 open game. I thought someone said going to Sacred Heart?

That game against Sacred Heart (if they are playing them) will be in Bridgeport where the regional was.

Re: Providence Off season Thread 2018: Insert Clever Title Here

Part of me wants to see tUMD win because the Big 10 thing has been so obnoxious this year even with the Gophers not making the tournament.
The other part of me thinks that it's pointless rooting against the Irish. That's 2 goals in the last minute of the game and 2 OT winners by the same team. That's pretty hard to do.

Re: Providence Off season Thread 2018: Insert Clever Title Here

Pooley does have two rings from LSSU, right? 1992 and 1994.

he wouldn't mind a third.

It would be funny if he set up a profile here and ripped into everyone who kept posting "Fire Pooley!" in 2003 and 2004. Mainly, me.
;)

One of the rumors is Dennehy ends up at PC as an assistant coach.

Well now we get to see if that happens as Borek is taking the Merrimack job. Yes things that make you go hmmmm??? What are they thinking?

Also CHN reported Mayotte one of 3 finalist for Anchorage. Again why would you take the worst job in college hockey?

Re: Providence Off season Thread 2018: Insert Clever Title Here

Apparently Merrimack is going to hire your AC Scott Borek to take over as the HC of the Warriors. Can you guys give us a rundown on this guy and how he's contributed to your success over the past few seasons?

You should have taken Mayotte

Seriously

I think he is meant to be someone right hand man. He coordinated the recruiting. Would give him credit for helping rebuild what is a successful soph class that changing top assistant 3 times in three years was a plus—helped land Bjorkqvist a Finn, Conway a transfer, Duhaime a decommit plus Wilkins.

I think he knows game but really doesn’t sound inspiring

He’s been around a long time. Was actually a McShane protege via Dartmouth and who hired originally at PC in late 80’s with Umile thus that connection. Had a rough time at Lake State but east guys going west is not a good recipe

Also was the recruiting coordinator at UNH before Providence while overseeing that slow decline in Durham.

I think this is a big positive for PC as they can move Rolston up (if he wants to) and bring on Dennehy as the volunteer.

Yes, Dennehy will become a volunteer, given he's paid .... smart thinking.
