Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

bball has had two more players leave in the past like two weeks...i think they've officially beaten hockey's number now.

Good. There are a number of them that have SUCKED as players and as human beings over the past few seasons. That team needed a purging. I don't care if you lose as long as you represent the college with class and effort. The hoop team has been an undisciplined joke under Keno and I take this shake up as a positive. Let Coach Cooley start with as clean a slate as possible and I'm sure the program will be better served in the long run.

Source is outside my usual circle so I'm not sure if is true. Name I hear is Jamie Russell.
It's true
I do not see anything good about him on this site or any other place......if anyone knows something good I hope they will post it here
He was a great assistant coach at Ferris State and Cornell before getting the gig at Michigan Tech. He will be a quality recruiter for you guys and should do a great job in the Assistant capacity.

Which ones are good that we can poach? We need the help!

I think all of JR's 2011 class is formally inked to Tech. Out of the 2012s, assuming Leaman is interested, maybe Russell will see if Samuel Labrecque would like to play closer to his native Quebec.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

I think Velischek coming back is very good thing. Honestly, I don't think he had a ton of options - believe he's aged out of juniors, transfering to another school and only being eligible for a year and half isn't too appealing, and Pittsburgh isn't ready to sign him. That being said, I have to think playing/learning under the new assistant Russell with his defensive background made coming back to PC even more appealing. Will be nice for him to get some real coaching on the blueline, and he should only get better.

We do have a few D men now, but that should all work itself out. See New, Velischek, Adams, Wyszomirski pretty set, with the other guys fighting for the last pairing.

Alex will have 2 yrs of eligibility ...not 1-1/2. My question is does he need to sit out if he is on track academically? or does he get to play in Oct
