Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

So with Lucia leaving Minnesota, is anyone aside from you know who nervous that the Rodents will be trying to pick up our coach?

He built two programs, won a national title and set the foundation for another before leaving Union.

He can go to Minnesota for all I care. Maybe we can coax Umile out of retirement and have him come work some of his magic for the Friars once Nate is gone. That would please the one lone UNH supporter masquerading as a Friars fan so we won't have to listen to his incessant complaining about a guy who's gotten teams to the NCAA tournament and a national championship.

I think it's the same type moron, one arguing for Army to stay for so long now another campaigning for Leaman to be fired after a proven record of success. Last time PC went to the NCAA's FIVE times in a row? How many National Championships did PC win before Nate?

I understand that the program had some great moments under Eccleston, Lamoreillo, Sterling, and even a few times with Pooley, but this is unprecedented. This literally hadn't happened here before.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

I don't think Nate will stay much longer, like the Bball coaches we are but a stepping stone leading to the big bucks, may not be this year but soon while his resume is good.........just look at Dan Hurley at URI being offered $3 mil in Pitt, URI can't compete

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Listening to yet another hockey podcast, ticket demand for PC is higher than anticipated? That's good news.

Very good news. Hell I'd take the newspaper guy back in my row rather than some random 10 year olds who run off from their parents so they can sit closer to the glass.

Every marquee job has been opened in the last few years since PC won the title except for Minnesota (which is now open) and Boston College. So doubt the Leaman move is in "college" hockey but actually the minors as seen by him consistently going to Bruins camps to work with players.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Leaman isn't going to leave to coach in the minors. If he leaves collage hockey at all it will be for the NHL. Minor league coaching would be a lateral move at best that offers short money, longer seasons and travel time and you don't pick who plays for you.

Put down the crack pipe, child.

Friday should be a great game. I'm hoping Clarkson can exorcise the Providence demons from 1981. The greatest choke job in Clarkson History at the Boston Garden in the ECAC semi's. #1 in the country CCT up by 2 with 2 minutes left and they lose in OT. PC did end up beating Cornell in the final and received an automatic NCAA bid.

One of the cooler things that ever happened to me was going to up to a game at Cheel and having the Clarkson pep band boo me personally. And PC lost 5-1 because of course we did.
I have a soft spot for both North Country teams, so if we lose tomorrow, good luck the rest of the way.

Will PC have a pep band tomorrow?

I would think so since there's not basketball game to interfere with them being in attendance. I hope MTU brings their band because they are a lot of fun.

They probably have a senior recital...one year that was the reason they missed the NCAA Hockey Regionals!

1977 was worse, though this was similar.

Remember that game. Clarkson had Dave Taylor. They were up 5-3 with three minutes left when BU scored three to win 6-5. LOVED IT!!!! :D

And that followed one of the most exciting games I have ever seen, UNH's 10-9 2OT win over Cornell.

Not a good evening for the New York State schools...
