Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Almost game time....PC students on break so don't expect to see many of them at game...band is in NYC with the bball team at least for tonight..

Hopefully the local fans come out to give Friars support in this one....must take the first game IMO....

Will be interesting to see how the Friars start having been off for 2 weeks while Maine played 2 tough games last weekend.

The attendance for playoff games every where in Hockey East - except maybe Alfond - is usually stunningly bad. Which I know from all the years of having to go to Conte, the Whitt, and Agannis to see PC lose in the quarterfinals. Anyone remember a few years back when one of our fans started screaming expletives at the Maine players after the second period?

Two of my favorite PC games - beating BU in double OT in 2001 and a surprisingly spirited game two win over Merrimack during the Nick Ellis year where in this round.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Good comeback win. Swayman gave up two softies, especially the winning goal. Nice to see the game on NBC Sports Boston, but OMG the announcers were so in love with Maine, especially that half-wit Sunny person.

I know, and it was hard to believe. I watched a couple streams earlier this year and could tolerate them then, but tonight "Sunny" was just super annoying. Everything Maine did right was "special" and "nice." She never mentioned that two soft goals were given up by Swayman, or the fact that clueless Red allowed a too-many men penalty during a 5-minute major no less.

I was surfing as well and got to see PC's incredible OT win in NY. A very special moment when you can beat a top-ranked Xavier twice in the same season.

Usually we will take a working alternator in good trade. However, now we only take blood.

Jon is glad you've all evolved. It was costing him a fortune keeping all those spare parts in his trunk. It was looking like a NAPA store back there.:p

I should buy stock in Autozone.

Did anyone get a good look at Foley’s major? I didn’t see anyone complain about it on Twitter. Having arguably our best offensive player sit for 5 minutes late in a tie game is less than ideal.

Don’t worry, we’ll just take too many men penalties in the middle of the major.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Congrats on a series win you guys, someday we’ll manage to beat you, maybe.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Congrats to the Friars as they dispense with Maine and move on to Boston, likely to play a tough Northeastern team in the semis. However PC has proven NU can be beaten.

As for Maine - real class act by Fossier at the end of the game. Maybe Red can get a haircut now, and perhaps Maine can also get a new coach in the off season (if their new AD has a set). They have a lot of talent and promise and could return to at least some of their former glory with the right leadership.

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

Congratulations to the Friars on winning the series 2-0 and moving on to face NU. Also, good luck in the NCAA tournament. Very good chance to be selected even without winning Hockey East. Maine set an all time record of consecutive losses to one team (0-14).

Re: Providence College regrouping and on to St. Paul

And now it’s 3-2 deep into the third.

Congrats. We owe you an alternar or two. ;) Also you coach came from Maine under Standbrook. Great program, next year you all can try take our alternators.

Another embarrassing play by a Maine player after a final game...Fossier this week, Hamilton last week versus UNH...would not be surprised to see Fossier suspended by Hockey East for a least a couple of games to start the 2018-19 season. As far as RG, he is NOT the man to turn Maine around, BUT would not be surprised if the NEW AD hands him a 2 year extension.

interesting pairwise scenario might be brewing

Line is at 14, Minnesota is home sweating hoping the line remains stable but if events fall so North Dakota passes them and essentially the BC/BU winner moves the line by winning HEA AQ, if Providence is all that stands in the way Minnesota would be looking for repayment for ‘15

According to this link, the Friars will be (dancing), skating.

Hope the link works, haven't tried that before.
