Providence College on the road to Tampa

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Well that was not pretty. Friars looked like they were stuck in mud especially that third period. No offensive flow in this one.

Ok, so a split it is. They lose ground to the others and BU ties them for fourth.

Next weekend two at home against a UNH team that has lost 6 in a row.

I don't think it was a "TERRIBLE" loss but it really hinders their chances for a regular season Hockey East title. I think this team should go on a nice 6 game winning streak heading into the huge Notre Dame series. Anything less than that is going to be a massive disappointment as these next six are extremely winnable and the games in hand PC has on the teams ahead of them.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

That makes 5 flat periods in a row.....time for a wake up

Maybe Leaman should be playing a consistent 18 man group instead of flipping lines/players every period. That fourth line has been crazy with how many guys have been put into roles in interesting positions like Cromwell playing against BC and Behling playing last night.

I thought they were pretty even with UML until that 1st goal. Ellis probably wishes he had that back. The second was because of a terribly timed line change (the puck was barely out of the zone) and the third was just leaving a player alone in the front of the net on a PP.
If they have a worse period this season, I'd hate to see it.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Next on the agenda, our dear dear friends from UNH. I we want to win Hockey East, we have to sweep. Unfortunately, the Skating Mother Theresas have had our number lately.
Hope the offense plays like they did in the first two periods against UML and not the way they did the rest of the weekend.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

They got the W but they better play better Saturday, I thought they were skating on slush not ice, very slow compared to what they have done in the past

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

We won a game where we played poorly against a team we always struggle against. If you're looking for a positive, there's that.

Is this the where Hawkey gets a start?

I doubt it.....without Ellis last night we would have been in trouble

Nate was quoted on the Montreal Canandiens site that Hawkey was close to Ellis in practice pushing for playing time. We will see but he has to play one of these three weekends

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

He could be the better net minder so it has to happen, when is the question

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

It's going to be one of those games... Losing 2-1

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Last year not withstanding, following this team is maddening.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

They quit skating half way thru the first period.....getting lazier game after game

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Not that PC was in any way deserving of a better result, but why the hell does Hockey East always call a penalty against the losing team at the end of every game?

Why does a coach down by two goals and with a PP not pull his goalie?

There are players on this team who have gotten way too comfortable especially the seniors like Rooney, Mingola, Parisi, and Gilmour specifically. They all have been extremely inconsistent this season. Rooney has three goals on the year and gets his name in the lineup every night. It has been a problem with Leaman's teams since coming to PC that the seniors have regressed from their junior season. Why has this happen now for five straight years?
