Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

What a great game

When the world's best players play all-out on an Olympic size rink--that is as good as it gets. I wish the NHL would go to Olympic size rinks but that's obviously a no-go as long as the league is run by a guy who doesn't own a pair of skates

The Olympic hockey games are being played on NHL size rinks this time around, not Olympic size rinks. I don't know the reason for this. I always thought it had to be the larger size for the Olympic games.

$$$$ they didn't want to remodel the Canucks' arena.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

If the final 4 is Russia, Sweden, Canada and the US that will be something to see. But Czech Rep and Slovakia can't be counted out

Pretty sure canada would play russia in the quarterfinals, they said that because of Canada's loss to the US, its impossible for both Canada and Russia to medal :)

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Disappointing interview with Lou on WFAN today...you might've thought that he'd mention coaching Burke and Wilson when talking about the Olympics, but he never mentioned it once. Even though he said he had experience "coaching college players" during his talk with Mike Francesa!

Oh well, maybe they were both in a bad mood. Both of them think the Olympics "does nothing for the NHL" and can't see them continuing with the partnership because it takes 2 weeks away from the regular NHL season..............rriiiiiiiiiiiiiight, like the NHL regular season is anything like the hockey we've been watching over the last 10 days!

Seriously, I can't think of a better advertisement for the NHL and its players than putting them on display in this format where far more people watch hockey than the NHL or Stanley Cup itself.

Was that one of the Omiciolis or Donatellis playing for Switzerland today? ;)

Any chance Ron stops by here on the way home from Vancouver?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Again forgive me that I'm new, for all I know this may have been mentioned before but I thought this was funny in reference to Wilson..
from wikipedia "As a coach, Wilson is well-known for integrating technology into his coaching plans. During his stint with the Washington Capitals, he and assistant coach Tim Hunter introduced personal computers into the team's strategy planning and burned DVDs of Capitals games for the team to review. In his stint with the San Jose Sharks, Wilson introduced a tablet PC to be used in the team bench by himself or his assistants to instantly plan out strategies and review plays."
Advanced bench-side technology must only work in the NHL and olympics...not well suited for college play.

It was an exciting contest at Tsongas

PC dominated from start to finish

The game plan was perfect

The offense was firing on all cylinders

Sadly, we came up 4 or 5 goals short but if a few bounces had come our way--maybe 30 or 40 weird bounces--it would have been a very different result

The thing is -- this game shows just how close they are to turning it all around next year. :p

BTW there is now a 10-point gap between PC and 9th place in Hockey East. 9th place isn't good enough for the post-season either.

Even if one was being positive..... the season was over weeks ago.....

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Ron Wilson is not walking through that door, fans. Chris Terreri is not walking through that door, and Gates Orlando is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be gray and old.

What we are is young, hard-working, and we're going to improve just as soon as our computer works. People don't realize that, and as soon as they realize those three guys are not coming through that door, the better this town will be for all of us because there are young-thinking guys in that (computer) room typing their asses off. I wish we had $90 million under the scholarship cap. I wish we could buy Ralph Baer. We can't; the only thing we can do is work hard, drink at Bradley's, and all the negativity that's in this town sucks.

I've been around when Hockeyman 2000 was booed. I've been around when PC91 was banned. And it stinks. It makes the greatest town, greatest city in the world, lousy. The only thing that will turn this around is being upbeat and positive like we are in that computer room... and if you think I'm going to succumb to negativity, you're wrong. You've got the wrong guy leading this thread. So I am going over to the Fire Tim Army thread for some positive hockey talk.

Its still Tylers fault, can we plan a road trip to the Mac for the big 100 game or at least a parade after it

From what I watched on Cox briefly, the announced attendance of 1144 would only make sense if they counted everyone twice. Maybe three times.
