Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

The worst part about last night is that I don't think NU played a particularly good game. But you can do that when you play a team with no offense. The refs sucked too.

Why does Northeastern's "sieve chant" last nine hours?

I saw tonight going differently. :o

Cream puffs are in the past, 1-3 in HE. At least we started strong so we've got that going for us.

Maybe we should join the CCHA. We play Notre Dame and Bowling Green better than we play UVM and NU.

Someone splash the rapidly decreasing glass in Hokydad's face. Why the **** could you possibly find to be optimistic about after the game last night?

Well at least it wasn't a shutout. ;)

I tried to get my wife excited about that... and the fact that at least NU couldn't score a short handed goal. She just went back to her knitting.

Alas the Cox games aren't streamed.

I was told they're also being shot in HD -- but not SHOWN in HD yet. Which means you're going to get black borders on the top and bottom of your TV simulating a "widescreen image" that will also make it almost impossible to see the puck.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

A tie at home nothing to brag about.....how long will John Cavanaugh be out, he was playing well......lots of lost face-offs, O'Connor looked good as did the D, still a poor power play with no real screener to block the goal tenders vision.....my clear glasses are now being worn and the **** glass is upside down

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

NU's power play is rather interesting with how they play 3 guys wide near the blue line with a lot of switching up. They move the puck quickly. first two goals were PP goals for them.

Last PC goal was a shot by New that NU defenseman deflected by Rawlings.

Much better game by the Friars tonight versus the prior night.

Tough one coming up on Tuesday against UML. Don't expect much of a crowd what with Thanksgiving and Bball team also playing at the Dunk.

Has there been a "crowd" at all this season? In the games Cox has televised, it looks like there is maybe 1000 people there tops...loads of empty seats all over the place. The announced attendance seems awfully generous.

There was about 100 Northeastern students there tonight...One of the loudest visiting crowds I have seen in Hockey East in years.

Could that number be tickets sold?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

91 you were there how did they look compared to the Brown game

I'm sorry but I didn't make it so I can't comment. I was supposed to be there but fortunately I stayed at Coda, Clery's and Brownstone's.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

The only "crowds" we get are from visiting teams and its been like that for years, even when Pooley had them ranked number 8, we do get a small student body group but its a very small percentage of what could attend....PC is a bucketball school and we are stuck with that........too bad because their support could help with resruiting of better players, who wants to play at home to a crowd that is mainly visitors

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

At least it wasn't a loss. I'll take the tie because it's better than the alternative. :p
Tuesday's game is make or break IMO. A poor showing at home vs. UML would be a real setback and serve as a clearer indication of what to expect from our Friars against the top teams in the conference this season.
Losses and ties as we get further into HE play doesn't bode well of late. The Friars are starting to run out of excuses in the "haven't played as many games as everyone else" department.
I'm hoping to make both games on Tuesday night. I'm starting at the Dunk but leaving to get back to PC by the end of the first.
D-A-M-N that Keno Davis and his hold on his happy campers. The hoop tickets should have been paid for out of Jr's account. ;)
