Re: Primelink 2013

About time for the fork.

And folks, your new #1 in the polls, the Plattsburgh State Cardinals.

Re: Primelink 2013

I was very impressed with the quality of the teams with year especially W-S. I would say that all the teams were very equal with the exceptions of the Cards Goalie. To me he was the reason why the Cards won the PrimeLink. I have said this before and I will say it until he graduates he is the best goalie I have seen since Kyle Jones of St. Norbert. The W-S team was fun to watch and they did impress some people. I am glad that there was 4 very qualified teams this years. Hope next year brings the same.

Concordia Minn looks like they are off to a good start so far in 2013. They are the invite team next year.

Re: Primelink 2013

My thoughts on the Primelink:

Middlebury v. Norwich: Probably the quickest game I've seen in years. That said, most of the game was played between the blue lines and not a ton of scoring opportunities. Norwich's protocol penalty was deserved. They weren't a few seconds late. When the buzzer to start the period went off, half of Norwich's team was still in the hallway. That's the second time I've seen that penalty called at Plattsburgh this year. Shootout was a big let-down. Norwich's shooters were not very creative and took very routine shots.

Plattsburgh v. Superior: Superior is one of the most physical teams I'd seen (completely clean physical). I though Plattsburgh was the better team all night.

Norwich v. Superior: I didn't think Norwich looked like they were interested in playing this game. Superior wasn't as physical as Friday and I thought carried play for longer periods of time. Ed Belfour's son got the start for Superior and I was sure Norwich would get an empty net goal with Belfour wandering out of his crease alot.

Plattsburgh v. Middlebury: Plattsburgh came out with some serious jump and got out in front 3-0. Then, as has been their pattern this year, seemed to take their foot off the gas. Middlebury seemed to carry more play over the last 40 minutes. Plattsburgh has completely bought into shot blocking. It is unbelievable how many shots they blocked over the course of the weekend.

All in all, a great weekend of hockey. I had a very good weekend!

Re: Primelink 2013

Wptz, who's that? As per the norm drake and his crew only show up at the staff when the Vermont teams are in town, and this lousy news channel wonders why no one watches .

I seem to remember that there is some personal animosity between you and Ken. Ken was born and raised in Clinton County. What exactly is his motivation for all things Vermont? Maybe he's doing what his bosses instruct him to do. To my knowledge, Ken makes every game (men's and women's) because I pretty much talk to him every night at the rink. Also remember, he's covering all of the other Plattsburgh State sports as well as high school.

I am as frustrated with WPTZ as anyone, but the reality is that there are more than twice as many people in Vermont as there are in WPTZ's northern New York coverage area. If Plattsburgh businesses were providing all of the revenue, the coverage would be tilted to the left side of the lake instead (and the Vermont folks on this board would be upset).

Ultimately, in the media business, you have to emphasize coverage where the viewers are. I can remember (before Canada started limiting availability of U. S. media on their cable carriers) that there used to be a lot more attention paid to Montreal on WPTZ - In fact sometimes they'd even include Montreal in the Station ID "bumps" "Platsburgh, North Pole, Burlington and Montreal" or something like that.

I also remember the Montreal days.

What really creates what happens is hidden in here.
