Re: Hey Prez! Lynn Taylor is baaaack!!

They usually stream a single camera on fasthockey.com - you will have to register....the games have been free in the past but I have not checked it out for this season yet...

Re: Hey Prez! Lynn Taylor is baaaack!!

Re: Hey Prez! Lynn Taylor is baaaack!!

I just logged in at the start of the second period.....there is a pbp and color team.....single camera pretty good quality but the stream is locking up and dropping out - big improvement over past seasons though.......cost me a game credit - not sure how much that is as I had two left over from last season.... pbp guy is local radio guy...color is a booster club member - an AARP duo...

Lost the feed....Fasthhockey not responding after a couple reboots....moving back to WNYO....stats page on Elmira site working fine

Re: Prez Bowl VI: Elmira vs Oswego (x2) Oct. 22nd and 23rd

It's just not right having baseball, football and hockey on the same night ... hockey can wait a couple. Nevertheless, great crowd for a home opener ... near 1800. Game was clean and, well officiated.

Oswego has a veteran team with only 3 freshmen on the roster distributed tonight at the game. Beckwith looked stellar. Got beat high glove on a perfect shot, and never saw the 2nd through traffic. Laganiere is a pretty good player of hockey.

This is as skilled an EC team that I can recall since the early 90s. Great combination of size, speed, handling and ice savvy. Having been on the ice for only a week, the coordination isn't there yet, but it improved dramatically during the course of the game. Goaltending will be an issue this season. Neither tenders is Tuttle.

Lines were MacLean (Tabor) Clewlow and Willard; Vaillancourt Willer and Consorti (Niagara); Shrank Sanders and Herold (BC); Strale (Sweeden) Archambault (PQ) and Kourtoglou (PQ). These are four brand new combinations, so they're still feeling each other out, but defending four quality lines will give teams with less depth fits. Willer and Sanders were all over the ice tonight ... obviously been conditioning all summer.

OSU does a real good job of controlling the puck in their offensive end, but Elmira dominated several long stretches of the game at the end of the first and second periods, and the beginning of the third. Once the lines begin to gel, the scoring will follow. Other than the first weekend jitters and accompanying disorganization, I'm very optimistic.

What he said. (I’ll probably be posting that a lot following-up elbo’s recaps... nicely done, as always).

Didn’t see the first goal... got to the rink as the bells were ringing, but I can’t believe Beckwith got beat glove side. He was da<font=arial>mn-near flawless with the leather tonight (when I was there... I guess I should have stayed home).

I am expecting to see some size disparity this year with EC opponents, but this was not evident on the ice against Oswego... and with the size inherent to the Oswego roster, this is certainly not a team to notice any size advantage against. Physically, I would not say Elmira got out-muscled, out-hustled, or out-(nuts... can’t find another word in the Ali dictionary)played.

So why didn’t the Elmira team get the W? Two reasons – Beckwith (already mentioned, but kudos to the Owsego "D" too) and the Elmira team did not show-up. Poo-loads of talent on the ice in gold tonight, but no team. Passing was great... to green sweaters.

To expand on the point of the line combos - notably absent from the ice tonight – Acorn, Hoey, & Morrisette. These three have GOT to get into the mix somehow too, but where??!! It’s almost as if there is too much depth on this squad!

All-in-all, I am in agreement with elbojpb, my optimism is very high. This team has what it takes to go very far this year. I am confident it will come together.

Stay tuned...

That's why I like the interlock schedule, even though I know it will change for the ECAC E next year

I didn't see much from Hoey last year but I was impressed with what I saw from him on Friday night and was puzzled that he was out of the lineup.

Morikawa saw a lot of icetime last year as well but hasn't been in yet.

Still trying to figure out why Acorn isn't in. Injury?

Did like what I saw from Herskowitz...But he might be a little bit TOO giddy to join the rush as a defensemen. He got caught out bad at the CC on Friday night once.

Archambault has some nice hands and a good shot but I'm not sold on his skating yet. Once he gets his skates underneath him, or he's not playing against as fast as a team as Oswego is, he could do pretty well.

Congrats on your 5000th post Prof!!

Remember, ECAC East/NESCAC interlock breaking means "WEALTH" of scheduling possibilities next season :)

Didn't even notice #5000, but you do know how many free games we will have next year - same number as this year if Midd will schedule a non-Primelink game with us. If not we would have one hole to fill. That's not my definition of wealth

I agree with the fact that elmira seems to have to much talent on the roster...........but its the same with oswego, as they put the frshman Titanic in and BINGO......the question on both rosters is who will play, well after the game at the CC I think those who take stupid penalties will b riding the pine, as there is another guy waiting behind them who will not........BOTH teams should be around for the Elite 8 again and it should be interesting.......ps lets hope both teams stay healthy as well.....pps.....goaltending always the BIG factor

Quite the opposite - I don't like seeing the season stop and start. If an earlier start meant more games, bring it on...

Middlebury is on the schedule for next year.

Re: Prez Bowl VI: Elmira vs Oswego (x2) Oct. 22nd and 23rd

Any chance of starting The Derek Dunning Cup between OSU, EC and Wick? I can dream. Can't I? :D

Re: Prez Bowl VI: Elmira vs Oswego (x2) Oct. 22nd and 23rd

Only way it would happen would be if OSU and EC want to come to the NSB tournament some New Year's week, I would think - I'd like to see that along with some random (preferably good) midWest team :D
