Pre season pick the NCAA field

Re: Pre season pick the NCAA field

There are 4 "non-AQ" Bids available - 1 Pool B and 3 Pool C, 1 Pool B + 2 (of 3) Pool C = 3 --> 3/4 or "75% of the non-AQ bids".
There are statistics, and then there is what Prof said.

What, exactly, DID he say, anyway? Sadistics was never my strong course.

Where's the MASCAC love, Josh?? You have to be our biggest advocate on the D-III scene. How COULD you!

I'm crushed! Devestated! And now, I am so upset I don't want to get out of bed to go to work!

I'm hoping, praying, that the MASCAC can get a bid, but the OOC's don't support it, do they?

Salem has an outside chance IMHO, but it would take pretty much of a sweep of the league games, and a solid 4 games over probably ranked teams on their OOC schedule. Not very realistic, but possible. Then again, I never wore suspenders and a belt at the same time, being the eternal optimist. (Read "dreamer")

Re: Pre season pick the NCAA field

The ideal OOC for a contending MASCAC team until the AQ kicks in:

2 middle road SUNYAC
2 middle road ECAC-E/NESCAC
2 middle road ECAC-W
1 ECAC-NE

All the games have to be winnable, but not a cakewalk and you have to avoid the behemoths like Platty, Hobart, Elmira, and Norwich. With the SUNY's you get Plattsburgh in the Opponent's schedule weight.

With the ECAC-W you get comparisons into Pool B land. The Interlock teams traditionally do well out of conference and then suicide against each other in conference, but you pick of strength of schedule points. Playing the NE gets you comparisons against a NE team that may have Pool C aspirations.

For example, I can get on the bus and do Utica and Geneseo. Or Genny and Potsdam and then do LVC and Neumann. Play close Interlocks and I have max 2 overnights the entire year.

AHA!!! I see now that's it's all about you and your schedule!!! :D :D

You could probably throw in a loss to to a "behemoth" and still benefit, especially if the selectee also has a good SOS themselves. The benefit to your OWP and OOWP might outweigh the hit that your winning percentage takes if it is your only loss. Had Adrian played and lost to SNC or one of those last year, it could have helped their cause. For sure, the MASCAC is going to face the same kind of hurdles that the MCHA faced.

You're late -- 3 point penalty

Re: Pre season pick the NCAA field

Is anyone else having a change of heart? Maybe the MCHA will get 2 bids this year, courtesy of the ECAC-W:confused: :(

Wrong region. 2 NCHA and 1 each MIAC and MCHA.

The fun matchup would be Adrian @ St. Norbert. SNC is one of the few west region teams within the 500 mile limit from Adrian. If both schools make the tournament, then look for this west quarterfinal.

Bracketology will start after the start of the 2nd semester. Then we'll REALLY have fun!

LOL;) , I wasn't serious, I was really taking a shot (at maximum exaggeration) at the poor performance of the ECAC-W:o
