I worry that it doesn't explicitly say "And the losing incumbent gets his bum a** thrown to the curb on the third Tuesday of January and provided one bus fare token for himself and his immediate family," that this weasel will find some Rudy Guiliani sized "loophole" to push the issue.

Trump, and his associates, are the sh**head kids in middle school who answer their test questions with "technically correct, yet blatantly wrong" answers.

Oh we will. And it will go one of two ways: tDon wins and "the people have spoken" and want him again.

OR tDon loses, election meddling from outside sources blamed, and the re-election results are nullified. And then he just stays in office while searching for who interfered. And while his actions are contested, someone leaves RBG's window open at night in winter causing her to catch pneumonia. And then Drumpf puts another SC justice in to secure his kinghood.

I see it as a possibility. Only because we have EVERY single Republican in the United States of America carrying his water. It's amazing. Is there a more powerless faction in the United States than the Never Trumpers? They have to be the most worthless political faction/movement that has ever existed. The Green Party has more power.

Sooo.....if nervous nellies are going to bleat over one poll showing "impeachment is losing support!!! OMG!!!" will the same people chime in when another poll shows its still at 50-43 in favor (and really, its doubtful you ever get much below the 43% given the cult like nature of the GOP)?

Or do we only emphasize polls that are favorable to Chump? ;)

Also, regarding Chump staying in office past his time, give me a break. The guy has no nuts. The minute he tries to remain after the Inauguration he opens himself up to criminal charges that will put him in jail for the rest of his life. He can't pardon himself after he's legally out of office. Does that seem likely, or does it seem more likely he makes baseless claims of being screwed out of the election and then forms his own media company to fleece his idiotic supports out of even more money while collecting Putin cash on the side to further dissent in the US?

And again, you are patently wrong about this. The column, or article, you always cite was written IN RESPONSE to all of those who were claiming our institutions would protect us.

I give it a 20% chance we get a declaration of Martial Law before the election. Troops weren't deployed to the border just to save us all from hordes of immigrants. It was to find out just how many people would object to American military forces on our own soil. Gassing, shooting, etc non-violent protestors is already acceptable.

If there is an election and Sniffles loses there is no way Cult 45 accepts the results. Sniffles will blame immigrants voting illegally.

As for him being afraid of going to jail, he's already facing jail time. He has literally nothing to lose by contesting the election and refusing to accept any result he doesn't like. I realize most of you think our military or the Secret Service will prevent that, but he'll have had four years to make sure the SS agents and top military officers around him are loyal. He'll be well-insulated.

You people really need to step back from the ledge. Not only will Trump now not leave office (which assumes everyone will just walk away who can stop him) but now we wont even have an election? You people are becoming certifiable.

He can blame whoever he wants, and his people can choose to believe if they want. It changes nothing.

he's already negotiating a deal for a post-presidency reality show... doesn't seem like he wants or expects to stay in office forever

No, he's not. As President can pardon himself for any federal crimes he's committed. He can't pardon himself for future crimes, like trying to stay in office beyond his term. That's a one way ticket to federal prison for him and anybody else that takes part.

No one's on any ledges. Every political norm has been changed in the last 3 years. Thinking another one could change is not crazy, it's acknowledging a pattern.

Doubtful that he could pardon himself. More likely he could invoke 25 and have Acting President Pence do it instead. However, he has repeatedly made the case (and, in fact, Mueller made it for him) that as long as he stays in office he can't be indicted.

The legal and constitutional ability of a president to pardon himself (self-pardon) is an unresolved issue. During the Watergate scandal, President Nixon's lawyer suggested that a self-pardon would be legal, while the Department of Justice issued a memorandum opinion on August 5, 1974, stating that a president cannot pardon himself. The 1974 memo laid out a scenario in which, under the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, the president could declare himself unable to perform his duties and could appoint the vice president as acting president. The acting president could then pardon the president and "thereafter the president could either resign or resume the duties of his office."

But again, that's only federal. He's not getting a pardon from Governor Cuomo.
