So Breitbart was a joint tortfeaser in this fraudulent misrepresentation, and its executive chair and founding board member is to be chief strategist to our new President?

We're seeing it happen. The partisans look at the letter after the name and everything is OK with them. Burke was wrong. All that is needed for evil to triumph is a binary political system. The moment evil seizes one of the parties, it will have that party's entire membership in support, or at the very least refusing to stop it.

Officials at the State Department are concerned over the Trump transition team’s request for all information related to “gender-related staffing, programming and funding,” the Washington Post reported Thursday.

According to the Post, State Department leadership complied with the request because Trump’s team did not ask directly for the names of the officials who work on women’s issues programming. A copy of the request obtained by the newspaper asked instead for information on all programs and activities that “promote gender equality, such as ending gender-based violence, promoting women’s participation in economic and political spheres, entrepreneurship, etc.”, as well as the “positions whose primary functions are to promote such issues.”

I can't say I'm very familiar with Edmund Burke's writings. Another hole in a swiss cheese fund of knowledge. But a quick read of some of his writings and speeches on England's policies leading up to the revolutionary war left me depressed at the difference between his rhetoric and Mr. Trump's midnight tweets and grade school insults. It's not just Trump--few of us are willing to spend the time and energy necessary to read anything that requires an attention span and a little work. Other than academics, even the most outspoken free speech advocate would never try to connect readers to Milton's Areopagitica for fear of losing them to a "hotter" message. Readers and listeners haven't the time, patience, or inclination.

Obama still can inspire with words from the podium before large audiences. But Trump is ideally suited to deliver the message to Joe the Plumber, who responds at a gut level to anything that triggers his fear of change and diversity and who resents and distrusts those who don't share that fear.

He said he wants to bring jobs back or keep them here. Remember Carrier? I mean that was all a hoax anyway but that's image he's pretending to establish. Hard to do that when you're trying to import labor.

He is realistic, just like maine blueberry farmers. Very few mainers will do that type of work and none will hang around.I do business will former grower. They used a broker to bring in legal migrants, they talk to one foreman, he keeps the workers on point. No whining, no complaining from every tom, dick and Harry in the fields. I will tell you that they are doing everything they can to mechanize harvest.

And that's all well and good, but stop blathering about jobs going back to Americans and getting his lemmings all worked up about it and then turn around and do the exact opposite.

If people don't already know what suckers they were to vote for the guy, he is certainly doing his best to get them to.

The amusing part is listening to his defenders try to rationalize the choices he continues to make.

Yeah we know...the liberals have been saying that for years but the other side pretends that immigrants (legal and illegal) are stealing their jobs. Trump ran on stopping that. Now at his place in Florida and his vineyard he cant even do the smart thing opticly and hire Americans he has to outsource the work. Maybe if he paid them a living wage that would help...

Practice what you preach. Isnt that what we heard about Al Gore? Pretty sure plenty around here (and in the Faux News Bubble) ripped him because he talked about Climate Change but his carbon footprint was atrocious. If you cant even follow the guidelines you tell others to live by, then you deserve to be ripped.

You expected it to be any other way? He did what it took to get elected, now he will do what he wants. No one should be surprised. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. Wasn't Obama going to pull all the troops home. How did that work out.

I think there is a very important difference. Obama made promises he did not keep, but there is no evidence that he did not intend to do what he promised to do--he just didn't know enough about the subject when he made the promises. Trump was a con all the way. It's what he is.

I know one of the big things he ran on is The Wall, but I honestly don't think he ever complained about legal immigrants, nor has he said they should be employed (welcome to be proven wrong here, probably won't be surprised if he did). There's a segment of his supporters that probably thought he did (the ethnic looking and/or foreign accent = illegal immigrant type), but I think a majority have zero issue with legal immigrants getting jobs. I understand what you're saying about optics, but if no one else is willing to do the work for what I'm assuming is minimum wage. This is the left looking for anything to make him look remotely bad. There is plenty of other stuff out there that does that, I don't think this is one of them.
