POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

the world is desperate to know who will really be running things.

This is a really good point. I'd say this is the most important thing. Everybody knows Trump has the brain power of Dubya hitched to the work ethic of Reagan. On substantive issues he will exert exactly 0.00 newtons of force. So the Cabinet are the real president(s).

HamIlton Nolan is a very good writer when he wants to be.

He can be, which makes his lazy columns really irritating.

It's also interesting to watch the Comments on his pieces. They usually contain references to all sorts of behind the scenes Gawker politics. There are factions within factions and they tend to use his pieces to fight, as opposed to say Magary where the Comments are filled with readers trying to snatch the pebble from the Master's palm.

Why is John Bolton even being considered for a spot at State? Why?

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Hey now, he fought hard to get that D in Meats class.

yup. We all know Cow Insemination 101 prepares you to lead a department that oversees our nuclear stockpile and runs some of the most advanced research labs on the planet.

Perfect summary. I feel the same way, though some of his lazy columns are just really well-hidden, Atacama humor. Which is hit or miss.

Cruz, then?

Yes, yes, I feel shame...

Obama nominated a respected nuclear physicist to head the Department of Energy. Trump picked the 12th-place finisher on Dancing with the Stars. That's why there's more scrutiny. We want an accurate record of exactly how you ****ed us over.

I think a lot of his picks could be decent but this one really had me scratching my head. I really would be disappointed if he picks Fiorina for intelligence chief. She is a complete disaster as far as I am concerned.

this one has you scratching your head, but a neurosurgeon in charge of housing and urban development doesn't? How about a secretary of education that didn't attend a public school and didn't send her children to a public school? Or a ****ing oil CEO as secretary of state so he can lift sanctions on Russia and make billions for his former employer (which, purely by coincidence, will help his stock portfolio).

You guys ****ed us over big time.

With regards to the Education pick, how many politicians at the federal level, who have children still in school, actually send their kids to a public school? How many of the politicians in DC actually attended public school? Most of those people are rich, but how many are self-made millionaires vs. those who inherited their money?

I really think you're moving the bar for standards on this one because you don't like Trump.

I don't doubt Carson will do a good job. I'm not sure on the education secretary, and to be honest don't have strong views on education policy in general. Is public better than private? How should the cost be divided between federal, state, and town governments? No answers to any of those so it's hard for me to speculate what sort of job she will do.

Tillerson is an interesting pick. I was surprised he was even in the mix. He is obviously is a very smart and accomplished man. I guess the wildcard is if he will put his stock holdings ahead of the country. If he doesn't he could be very good and it's important to remember the last two who have held the position were complete disasters. The whole Arab Spring is something our country should be ashamed over. Countries have been completely torn apart and thousands of lives lost for nothing. It will be a miracle if they ever get back to any sort of normalcy. I'm not trying to say there was anything good about Assad, Gaddafhi, and others but them being in charge was better than the chaos they have now.

Sadly, no they didn't. It's the millions of people/Dems/whoever that were (in theory) supporting Hillary who chose to stay home and not vote for her who ****ed us over.

At least Arne Duncan worked in public education as CEO of Chicago Public Schools. John King was New York State education commissioner.

What on earth makes DeVos qualified in any way to have anything to do with public education?

President-elect Donald Trump has made a number of controversial cabinet nominations already. But none seems more inappropriate, or more contrary to reason, than his choice of DeVos to lead the Department of Education.

DeVos isn’t an educator, or an education leader. She’s not an expert in pedagogy or curriculum or school governance. In fact, she has no relevant credentials or experience for a job setting standards and guiding dollars for the nation’s public schools.

She is, in essence, a lobbyist — someone who has used her extraordinary wealth to influence the conversation about education reform, and to bend that conversation to her ideological convictions despite the dearth of evidence supporting them.
