The odd, odd thing in all of this is that a lot of the class warfare charges being thrown around are correct. Not about the poor, but about the wealthy. Or at least the upper middle class. We get 5 weeks paid vacation, matching contributions on our 401K, big tax deductions for our mortgages, 16 weeks maternity/paternity leave, year end bonuses on top of our salaries - blah blah blah. Yet, the good citizens of Kentucky in this article as well as people in Ohio, WVA, Michigan, etc decided to level the playing field by voting for...Trump. :confused:

Hey, my life most likely doesn't change as a result of the Trumpster's reign of terror. In fact I might get a tax cut or two thrown my way. One wonders if the working class is going to be able to say the same thing. I think....nah.

I think I need to get to that point, too.

The only realistic threat to me is the regulations that my projects all work around. And given how my industry has worked with the agency to make these- they would only partially be taken away. So it's a minor threat.

But my taxes should go down, the majority of customers who buy our product will have their taxes go down, my 401K should boom (although I have to predict when they blow up next), etc.

If the people who will suffer when the ACA is no longer law, and the people who suffer due to the harsher weather, and the extra pollution kills more people, and less people are employed with lower wages on the fringes- all vote to make that change, well, not much I can do about that. All of those were what don ran on.

For all of the people who think he won't do X as part of his claims, you honestly had less to complain about with Hillary.

For those others who thought Hillary would be super corrupt, the denial based on what don SAID and IS GOING TO DO is stunning. don is going to make a LOT of money being president- from his lack of separation from the his companies to the appointees who made lots of money from other countries. Duh. Pay for play was going to be bad? I think I'd rather deal with that in Haiti than someone doing something far deeper in mother Russia.

I think you underestimate the damage that is about to be done. 2000-2010 economically was a disaster for the Middle Class. It's still not recovered. It's going to get worse the next 4-8 years.

As with any number of Mencken quotes, it's pretty funny stuff. But even in light of the whispers of Mencken contempt for inferior people that we see thrown out around here, by some, I'm going to be pretty shocked if the majority of posters in these political threads suddenly become big Mencken fans.

I get that, and we have been fine the whole time. That's more my point. My industry apparently does not need that income group- as we recovered pretty well, and have been setting annual sales records for a few years. So as long as the top can still buy products, I'll be fine. Where I have to be more careful is when is the market crash going to happen...

The "middle class" voted this fool in, and based on everything he has said and done, they are going to be buried. But they did it fully willing and knowing. Sucks to be them.

What's most frustrating about the whole thing- many of the liberals were looking out SPECIFICALLY for them and people lower in the income bracket. But they mostly bought into don's smoke and mirrors and accepted ideas that clearly were going to hurt them.

My Double Post is to remind everyone that the man picked for Energy Secretary is the same man that wanted to abolish the Department.

January 20th we will commence with the election results and take a wrecking ball to the Government as a whole and Obama's legacy. It will all be gone by next Christmas.

It's always been better to make money killing people vs. helping them recover or save their lives.

Heck, we'd MUCH rather spend money killing other people than save even our own lives. That's how people vote.

Depending on how you define middle class, it was a disaster if you lost your job and either didn't find another one or had to take a massive cut in pay. Lets be honest here, if you kept your job, you made out like a bandit because interest rates got so low you refinanced your mortgage at the lowest rates in living memory. Everything was cheaper from vacations to the people you hired to work on your house. Yes, you had to deal with the stress of potentially losing your job but that's a far cry from actually getting turfed.

Regarding Trumpian damage, I'd say as long as he doesn't start a decades long war we should be able to survive. Big, BIG priority if his administration becomes the disaster that we think it will is seizing back the House in the off year election. Senate map is too difficult this time around. If people lose their healthcare however in the meantime too F'in bad. That what you get for voting Republican (or not voting at all).

Y'all had eight years to do something about it. Y'all didn't. Instead played golf, went on lavish vacations, and overthrew more governments to make it even worse.
