2020 was a referendum on Trump, 2024 is a clear choice between two people who have served one term. Were you better off between 2017 thru 2020 or 2021 thru 2024? 2024 is a completely different dynamic and it’s a mistake for folks to stay stuck in the past.
 
We talking about people inside “The Beltway” being your definition of political class, or are you talking about politically active people as a whole, no matter where they live? As for your choice, I’m much better off now than I was in 2020, and I’m a working-class person living, by choice, in Kentucky. It helps to have a functioning brain for this not to be a tough decision.

The Echo Chamber assures its prisoners everything is terrible every day when a Dem is in the White House. My Dumpy co-worker neighbor is constantly grousing about inflation and crime. It's classic programming.

How are you worse off?

I'm not seeing much difference. Other than no one's talking about the plague that's still out there killing hundreds of Americans every month.

But no worries, I was told it was gonna disappear soon.

Remember when you couldn't find toilet paper on the shelf at the supermarket? Or have you already forgotten that? Yeah, things were better then. Like I said, looking for any excuse, any reason, to continue your support of the fascist party.

According to them my city has been on literal fire since George Floyd. They also believe it is run by Somali Pirates and Gangs from the North Side. Hell go 1 hour outside the Twin Cities they buy that crap. They hate us...of course until they need us. (which is always)

And that is pretty much the entire Republican platform...hate everyone and consume all they have. Republicans are basically the aliens from Independence Day...

My dad tried convincing me a while back that all of Portland is on fire. I have friends that live in urban Portland as well as the suburbs, all of whom don't live in rubble. I relayed this to my dad, who didn't believe them. Fox told him the city is destroyed, therefore people that live there "have an agenda".

The right has invented an alternate reality and stays within it.

I told my neighbor I was going to the Mets game in DC this weekend, and he said, "good luck." He thinks DC is a perpetual war zone because well yes you guessed it.

Well...going downtown is a literal death sentence for anyone white. I mean do you know anyone who's been to multiple Twins games this year? I rest my case...

So Chicago has an aging set of old Gen-X/Boomers who have lived within the city their entire lives but somehow are super Conservative. And they buy into the whole "Chi-raq" bit. Basically every neighborhood but their own is a dystopian hellscape. But also don't dare rip them for choosing to live in the city... Oh God no... That is their God given right!

There are lots of studies that demonstrate when Fox viewers are given information that refutes a Fox lie they retrench and believe the lie more strongly. Authoritarian personality.

We’ve really gotten hit hard on the expense side. Obviously the increases in food and energy are well documented but even a random thing like my car and homeowners insurance went up 30% YOY(with no explanation other than ‘market conditions’). Our expenses are definitely up way more than CPI.

This isn’t Biden’s fault but I’m sure a lot of folks will vote against him because of it.
