I don't think trump left him a note. I believe some aide wrote something. I'd actually be surprised if he even signed it.

My wife immediately suspected that he didn't get an actual pardon because of his skin color. It would be interesting to go over the lists- but I will leave that to the historians.

Reading he's also still on the hook for $4.7m in restitution. So there's that at least.
 
To be fair, Melanie is the only one that knows definitely she won't be going to jail. That's why the faces on the other three.
