Absolutely. Get SCOTUS on record again as being unhinged. Worked to get some voters to the polls who may not have when it came to Roe v. Wade.
Granted, most of the media doesn’t care. Politico Playbook has a “What the White House doesn’t want you to read” section, and they had the audacity to put out a Politico article saying the Biden administration doesn’t want people to know the economy could take a hit from people having to start repaying their loans, as if the Biden administration and Democrats in Congress were the ones who wanted repayments to start without any assistance. Politico of course left out the “SCOTUS shot down Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, and Republicans in Congress have wanted loans to restart since Biden took office. Oh, and Republicans are trying to strike down Biden’s new repayment program as illegal.” No matter to any of that.

I read through his points on twitter and he seems to be all over the place. Ultimately the Supreme Court decision is important because there are questions regarding the amendment that have not been tested. Saying their decision is not relevant is like saying their decision in Dobbs isn't relevant.

It's far too easy to interpret "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against [the United States], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof" in a manner that doesn't disqualify Dump. He's never been charged or convicted on any act of sedition or insurrection stemming from 1/6/21. The current charges against him for that event are:
  • Conspiracy to defraud the United States
  • Witness tampering
  • Conspiracy against the rights of citizens
  • Obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding
Which of these may specifically constitute "aid or comfort" to the insurrectionists is not easy to argue or prove. At any rate, he'll keep all of the cases against him tied up in court with procedural stall tactics and appeals all the way until at least Nov '24.
 
Trump mouthed off on TS again about the law clerk in his civil trial and the judge finally put a gag order in place.

Exactly. If they turn state evidence, fine, they don't get the wall. But they also don't get a statue.

I'll give Hutchinson and Liz Cheney credit for stepping up at the last minute. However, this entire premise their party is running that governing does not matter has got to end if our country and species is going to survive.
 
I think we need to differentiate "Trumpism" from "regular right wing views I personally find abhorrent".


Example: Dick Cheney harbors views that I think are awful, however he is a (small "d") democrat in that he embraces democracy and, win or lose, supports the process. Trumpists actively reject the process.

Trumpism is about meanness and cruelty and only aligns with the right because it was convenient to Trump to use that (and the right in the mid-teens was ripe for a monster like him).


Now, 8 years after Trump threw his hat in the ring, he's merged them. But they are not the same, at their heart.
 
So Trump whines on his way into the courthouse today that if there was a jury, he'd win.

Then inside, his lawyer kept making statements all dramatically and the judge reminded him a few times that there's no jury to perform for. ... to which Trump hasn't stopped audibly grumbling about.

Cheney isnt MAGA and she literally lost her job (and her party) fighting him. She would not vote for him or any other MAGA. (nor would Kinzinger) Hutchinson gets no credit for nothing. She is cashing in nothing more nothing less. If she looked like Sarah Huckabee Sanders she would not be getting half the back slaps as she does now.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders would never have testified. That's the difference. Cassidy isn't still sucking Trump off. If she had looked like Sarah and testified truthfully the left would have been more than happy to adopt her just like they adopted Liz Cheney.

We agree for the most part, we just place where we allow the redemption arc at differing points.
