RaceBoarder - I fully expect to see him on the ballots in 2024. I just think he'll do a couple of years of "off-the-books" campaigning first. Trump sees every legal boundary as a constraint only for suckers, and he's no sucker.

He'll go through everything as if he's running, just to bask in the adoration of the press and his disciples, without ever actually coming out and saying he's running.

He doesn't want the "job" of president anyway, never did. He just wants the legal protections and the attention. And the grift
 
You are nuts. He is running. He might not announce it until there is a candidate who polls well enough to be a threat (i.e. not DeathSantis) but he will run. He has to. His whole persona is based on being a winner and sooner or later his ego won't let him accept that he wasn't able to beat Biden. The only thing stopping him now probably is that he has fallen for the Qucumber BS that he will be reinstated.

The nomination is his the second he announces. CPAC showed the GOP is his party. All decisions go through him. He won't allow for the coronation of anyone else and the GOP can't win unless he anoints the nominee. It is a suicide pact...

I mostly agree, but I think he won't announce until he has to. That may come if someone like Desantis gets some ground swell support, but Trump simply wants the attention on him and the best way to maintain that is to let the question linger.

100% correct.

Nothing short of death, physical illness that prevents him from appearing in public or actually dressed in striped coveralls and behind bars will prevent it. The republican party is 100% the party of trump. All the "reasonable" republicans (what are there, 11? 12? Total? In the entire country at every level of government?) will either fall into line or be effectively muted. We've already seen it. And what scares me the most is he will quite possibly be running with a republican congress and even more republicans in state houses to help him steal a lost election. How ironic that if we don't want another attempted (and quite possibly successful a second time around) coup, we need trump to win legitimately. He'd probably lose, but then comes the coup.

Election season 2022-2025 is gonna be white knuckled terror.
 
Is it too much to hope someone like DeSantis tries to stab him in the back and go without him, and then he runs as 3rd party and splits the right? I mean I know GQP/CPAC is full of suckups to him, but they also seem like the opportunistic types to try to take it all for themselves if any one of them gets enough support, and DeSantis feels like the most likely there.

They’ve all fallen on the sword so far. I don’t think any have the spine to do it.

Well, it's not too much to hope that RDS tries to go without him (his ego knows no bounds), but RDS would fail - spectacularly. There are only a handful of people in the US who have the power to make RDS the GOP nominee. The list starts with Donald Trump and ends with the judges he should be facing in the next year or two.

DeathSantis is a godd@mned moron, but there's no way that even he is dumb enough to challenge Trump for the nomination.

Cruz might do it, but only because I think he's a masochist who quietly gets off on constantly being owned by both the right and the left. Obnoxious though he is, I'm not here to kink-shame.
 
A lot can happen between now and early '24.

(I have visions of orange jump suits, but we all know that is not likely).

Yeah...I mean Trump trounced him at CPAC and that was supposed to be where DeathSantis made his mark. The only shot Ronny has is if Trump doesn't run and crowns him.

If it isn't Trump though I have a feeling it is going to be someone like CrazyEyes out of SoDak so they can pretend to care about Women. She has all the same worthless creds RDS has and will be even easier to control cause she has no original thoughts in her head. They will use her like they used Palin and hope it shores up the Midwest.

But I would say it is -900 at the casino Trump is the nominee.

I don't see Zodiac doing it but there are others like him who might try. I think he is happy with the grift he has after he was cucked by Trump in '16.
