You're overthinking this. What we're seeing is that a third of the country is simply that stupid. Unless they're part of the small percentage of his voters who are rich and looking to protect their wealth, then they are simply imbeciles with no shame.

This is probably the best theory.

The thing about my Dump coworkers isn't they aren't imbeciles -- they're smart enough to tie their shoes, get to work, and put in a day's labor. And they aren't Nazis -- they revile hard racism as much as us; if somebody at a bar yelled the n word these guys would kick the snot out of him before I could even get out of the chair.

They don't see systemic racism and they aren't educated enough to understand how black poverty is a result of racism and not "bad culture." They are immersed in the kind of soft racism that runs all the way from lily white liberal kindergarten teachers to Clarence Thomas and Candace Owens.

We can't taste the seawater we grew up in; we think it's just "normal." I was casually racist AF until I left my leafy suburb. The intuitions I had from my experience growing up were just plain wrong. I'd never have known that if I stayed in that cocoon, and most of my coworkers have lived their whole lives in an uneducated white underclass that takes Fox as Gospel because every other guy watches it too. It is virtually impossible to break out of that unless you leave.

Maybe at 14 years old every kid should have to move across the country and live in an opposite family. White for black; rich for poor; urban for rural; flyover for coastal. Teach them the only fundamentally important lessons of civics:

1. Nobody is better than you.

2. You are not better than anybody.

Eh, by 2021 if Trump has lost, the GOP will be getting Qanon'd with a still loud, obnoxious Trump and they won't be able to go back to Reaganomics like they were.

Right wing media wont be the only ones riding him for profits. All corporate media will. It is easy money.
