What's the message you don't think we get?

If you're talking about Dump's popularity I think it's the same as it ever was, which was enough to win in 2016, and that's sufficient motivation to stay focused on beating him. We all understand that the ineptitude and disgustingness of Republicans is never surety against their election. Nor is their outright treason, evidently, given the stability of the polls.

We know this will be close, so what is your point?

Re: POTUS 45.60: He's Such A Delicate Boy and a Hysterical Man

I've been thinking about trump's description of al-Baghdadi's actions as the special forces closed in. trump describes him whimpering and acting like a coward. He pleaded and cried, before ultimately blowing himself up. I call bull5h!t.

Now don't get me wrong. These Islamic terrorists can go fvck themselves and rot in Hell for all I care. I'd rather believe the guy was acting as trump described, and crapped and wet himself before pushing the button. And beside that, who WOULDN'T be scared knowing you were possibly facing a painful and violent death.

But trump says he blew himself up. That takes faith and commitment people. I've seen lots of descriptions of these terrorists calmly going into a market or other gathering of people and setting off a suicide bomb. They believe -- horrible and evil though there beliefs about their faith are -- that they are committing a necessary and righteous act. My guess is the description trump offered was bluster and hyperbole. We all know he projects. He figures HE would be whimpering and pleading for his life. Remember how terrified he looked at the Ohio rally when someone yelled at him and made an attempt to rush the stage. That person was still dozens of feet away and unarmed and the "threat" was over in about 3 seconds, yet you know he pizzed his pants. trump is the coward.

Dump is obviously lying because he always is, it's merely just a matter of about what at any give time.

I'm fine with portraying terrorist leaders negatively to discredit the idea that they are heroes. Truth be told, many of these people are probably far more brave, committed, and "pure of heart" than any of us. That was Maher's point about the 9/11 hijackers that got him fired and he was of course absolutely right. They are so pure they are convinced that they should get their way by torturing and killing other people.

We do that too, but we use the power of sovereign state so that's, sniff, honorable.

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.—
Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Anyway, f-ck em. They burned people alive in cages. I'm fine with lying about their leaders having porn (bin Laden) or crying (Baghdadi). It is quite easy to hold in one's mind, simultaneously, f-ck Baghdadi and f-ck Dump.

Dems will introduce vote to launch formal Impeachment Inquiry before the full House this week.

This happened faster than I expected. In fact it happened immediately after we won our case that we weren't forced to do this.

If I were in charge of the Democrats in the House, and if I wanted Trump impeached, I'd vote to impeach him today. All of this "process" is just going to make the job more difficult. Furthermore, six months from now when they impeach him for withholding aid to a foreign government to put pressure on that government to investigate his political opponent, people are going to be like, "wait a minute, haven't we already been through all this?"

If they hold three months worth of hearings where a parade of staffers, envoys, etc..., testify as to a variation of what we've already heard, they have no chance of getting this done. All momentum will have been lost.

On the other hand, if the goal is to basically spend between now and election day keeping this in the news for political purposes, with no intent to impeach, then the House Democrats should proceed as they are, although I still think that within 3-6 months no one will be paying attention to it anymore.

The Dems don't do original. This is the Benghazi playbook. Just leave it open and slow bleed it till election day. The only thing different between the Democrats and Republicans is when the Democrats copy the plan they actually have a REAL THING instead of a MADE UP THING to copy it too. They do get credit for that.

Want to waste your time? Read this I got something like two paragraphs in and asked myself, "This is Cilizza, isn't it?"

Supposedly, they wanted to be able to send it to the Senate by the end of the year. With all the holidays, I don't know if they'll make it. That way, McConnell can acquit him in time for the primaries, I guess?

That was what McConnell said he wanted. The Dems in the House said "yeah right, it'll take what it takes" to get to the bottom of it

Why do you talk to him like he is trying to have a rational conversation?
