Devices larger than laptops now banned to 8 countries, including turkey.
My Turkish friend is about to board a flight to Istanbul with his 3 kids under age of 5. No iPads, etc allowed. The kids will deal- but I'm worried about his re entry home at this point despite his US passport.

I have no doubt Trump is lying, cheating, and hiding all sorts of heinous stuff.

My point is one can't interpret a suspect vigorously defending themselves as evidence they're guilty. That's a prosecution trick. "If you're innocent why do you need a lawyer?"

U.S. to Turkey. Two countries with flat out scary leadership.

Not sure what word properly describes how the ugly realities of political power can coexist with and possibly even shape poetry, music, art, and philosophy which seem a world removed:

An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress,
Nor is there singing school but studying
Monuments of its own magnificence;
And therefore I have sailed the seas and come
To the holy city of Byzantium.

The Real Issue.

WASHINGTON — The headline from Capitol Hill on Monday was bracing: confirmation of a criminal investigation into connections between associates of a sitting president and Russian operatives during a presidential election.

But the response from Republicans was almost as striking: During hours of testimony in which James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, acknowledged the inquiry, they shrugged off its implications and instead offered a coordinated effort to defend President Trump by demanding a focus on leaks to news organizations.

Throughout the 5½-hour hearing before the House Intelligence Committee, as Democrats tried to highlight the criminal investigation, Republicans demanded a renewed focus on how its existence was revealed in news reports months ago.

Compare the reaction to that statement by Comey as compared to his comment about Clinton during the campaign. One was looking at emails that everyone knew went nowhere and this is an investigation into a sitting President and his administration. Just amazing...

Andrew Napolitano, the senior legal analyst for Fox News, has been temporarily sidelined following his unproved assertion last week that former President Barack Obama had asked for British assistance in spying on Donald J. Trump, a person briefed on the decision said on Monday.

Mr. Napolitano did not appear on Fox on Monday, even though there were two news events that normally would have called for his services: hearings involving the F.B.I. director James B. Comey, and the Supreme Court nominee Neil M. Gorsuch.

Mr. Comey’s hearing touched on Judge Napolitano’s allegation — which both President Trump and his press secretary, Sean Spicer, repeated — that British intelligence officers wiretapped Mr. Trump at Mr. Obama’s request.

It is not clear how long Mr. Napolitano will be off the air, but his absence from Fox’s airwaves on Monday was an indication that the network was not pleased with the unwanted attention focused on his unfounded allegations.

The Los Angeles Times reported Mr. Napolitano’s absence on Monday. Fox News declined to comment.

We'll see. These are the six big damages the GOP and Trump are trying to inflict on us:

1. Fix the elections
2. Increase inequality
3. Grow the warfare state
4. Destroy environmental protection
5. Destroy health care
6. Destroy education

We'll see how far they get. Even assuming nobody on the right has a conscience, many of those are tough lifts. They all fit together as the project to destroy democracy and replace it with feudalism, so they are all mutually-reinforcing, but likewise wherever we impede them we slow down the entire project.

The landscape is changing and they are the ones fighting the clock. Each day we can slow the advance of this cancer a few more orcs die and a few more humans reach voting age.

We will bury them, literally. The only thing in question is how many people they will hurt on their way out.

I agree with everything you said except for the word, "trying" in sentence one, and I'm not convinced the demographic changeover is happening as quickly as people say it is.

Explicitly the Cuban Latino's in Florida voted for Trump in large numbers because of Obama's Cuba policy.

Spicy is awesome. He lies and lies and lies and lies and does it in front of the press and he gets away with it. Amazing.

Being in SW Florida I have quite a few friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who are 1st/2nd gen from Mexico, Central & South America, Cuba, and the Islands. As a group I can't say how they all voted, but I can say that as a group, (except maybe Argentinians) they are not socially liberal in the American sense at all.

No. Florida Cubans have always been Republicans. They're reactionary French nobility in exile during the Revolution and they want their Batista Era estates and serfs back. That's one reason the other Latinos can't stand them.
