Re: POTUS 45.59: It Was a Great Phone Call
I'm not sure how anybody could be a sincere Undecided unless they are very, very lofo.
I'll say this about Dump: he has not been shy showing us what he is. To be against him denotes patriotism. To be for him indicates mental illness. But to be unsure? I can't wrap my mind around that.
Agreed that Independents are full partisans who simply refuse to adopt the label of the party they support out of a smug (and false) feeling of superiority.
And Moderates? Almost everybody thinks they are "moderate" like everybody thinks they're a good driver. It's meaningless.
I think the undecided window is real, but we're making a
massive mistake in assuming it's the same people. That window shifts up and down the field and has a different width.
With an election of Romney-Obama, the undecided window might look like:
<------------Field------------>
..................<------>............. (Window)
Obama vs. Dump:
<------------Field------------>
................................<-->.....
Hillary vs. Dump (2016, only knowing what we knew on 11/8/2016)
<------------Field------------>
..............<---------->............
Hillary vs. Dump (2016, only knowing what we knew know now)
<------------Field------------>
...........................<--------->
We've (maybe just the average dummy like me) have assumed they're always "centrists" and "independents". They aren't. They always move. This year the undecideds are right-wingers who haven't decided whether they can pull the lever for a nazi and live with themselves.
This is probably all PolySci 101, but whatever.
