Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

It has begun.

From the first newspaper editorials calling for Dump's impeachment to the first newspaper stories about resign/pardon deals: 48 hours.

Promise him immunity.

The second he resigns indict him.

Nazis cannot be bargained with, they must be destroyed. Ask Chamberlain.

Kos is jerking themselves off too much. The Newsweek article it linked to is from January 2nd.

He's so cheap about getting competent legal representation you could easily cut him a federal deal and he'll forget that the states will want their pound of flesh.

That's what I'm hoping anyway. Chump will absolutely pardon himself for any crimes committed both in office and before he became President. I have no doubt in my mind that he'd go there, and as best I can tell the Constitution gives him that power unfortunately. He has to get sent up on state charges or nothing at all.

Don't you have to be convicted before you can be pardoned for that crime?

What country are you living in exactly? Cause if you think that isn't possible in this one, you're crazy. There is no "normal" here now.

I guess I should have directed that question to uno, not a resident of Mordorsota.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

You have to "admit to it" or something similar to accept the pardon, I think.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

Wasn't Nixon pardoned?

I believe Nixon was pardoned for "all crimes known and not yet known" arising from Watergate meaning you do not have to be convicted before a pardon is granted. I believe you only need to be convicted in order for the pardon to be effective in the tautological sense that you only need the umbrella if it rains. But you can still buy the umbrella first.

However, I am guessing.

You have to feel remorse for the confession to absolve you. You can't fool God or a redhead.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

Oh good. Then we would get to learn how an admission becomes a Fake admission.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

I don't recall Nixon admitting to anything when pardoned. I think he wrote some tone deaf response thanking Ford but not saying that he admitted to paying people off or trying to get the CIA to lean on the FBI to back off the investigation.

EDIT: wiki has a good summary - the highlights:

"The pardon of Richard Nixon (Proclamation 4311 Wikisource has information on "Proclamation 4311") on September 8, 1974, by President Gerald Ford granted Nixon, Ford's predecessor as president, a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he might have committed against the United States while president.[1][2] In particular, the pardon covered Nixon's actions during the Watergate scandal. In a televised broadcast to the nation, Ford, who had succeeded to the presidency upon Nixon's resignation, explained that he felt the pardon was in the best interests of the country and that the Nixon family's situation was "a tragedy in which we all have played a part. It could go on and on and on, or someone must write the end to it. I have concluded that only I can do that, and if I can, I must."[3]

After Ford left the White House in 1977, he privately justified his pardon of Nixon by carrying in his wallet a portion of the text of Burdick v. United States, a 1915 U.S. Supreme Court decision that suggests that a pardon carries an imputation of guilt and that acceptance carries a confession of guilt."

Ford, however, insisted on a statement of contrition; Nixon felt he had not committed any crimes and should not have to issue such a document. Ford eventually agreed, and on September 8, 1974, he granted Nixon a "full, free, and absolute pardon", which ended any possibility of an indictment. Nixon then released a statement:

I was wrong in not acting more decisively and more forthrightly in dealing with Watergate, particularly when it reached the stage of judicial proceedings and grew from a political scandal into a national tragedy. No words can describe the depth of my regret and pain at the anguish my mistakes over Watergate have caused the nation and the presidency, a nation I so deeply love, and an institution I so greatly respect."

The cartoon for that article is outstanding!

If joe is going to post that tweet in his concern trolling manner (which was his point) then I am going to tell the truth behind the numbers. The numbers dont say what the tweet says they do and they definitely dont say what the tweet implies they do. Context is needed...you cant just throw out random numbers and leave it at that. We are smart, we are educated, and we can tell that 42.8 /> 42.8 ;)

(yes I am sure if they parse it out to a few more decimals he might be correct, but that is statistically insignificant for this argument)

And this country is NOT a 50/50 country. It is 65-35 country so lets stop dumbing everything down for the 35%.

Interesting to see what republican whine-fest Obama was dealing with at this spot in his term as to why his numbers had dropped so low.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

A google search of news from September 2011, shows that it wasn't a great month. The stock market was plunging due to the European debt crisis. The "Arab Spring" was ramping up. A government shutdown was narrowly averted late in the month when a deal was struck with the Senate, and Obama had recently issued his plan to reduce the deficit, with half the money made up of increased taxes.

Re: POTUS 45.58: Admit it, those lights are making you look orange too.

If people are already getting on board with impeachment before Giuliani makes an arse of himself in a Congressional hearing or before we find out exactly what other communications with foreign leaders Chump is trying to hide, this isn't a good trend for the treasonous money laundering cult. You'll always have a good 40-45% or so opposing impeachment in the first place since those are the KKK members. Small margin of error in there in case a handful of religious fundies would rather exchange Trump for Pence. ;)
