POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

First of all bite me dont compare me to rufus.

Rube wants him impeached, but he also doesnt want it to backfire. There will be no ramifications in the political sphere from the impeachment we all know it. To Rube (and many others btw) it isnt worth risking 4 more years of Trump to try it. Hell until a month ago I was in the same boat. I changed my mind for various reasons but Rube hasnt gotten to that point yet.

(unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying, in which case mea culpa)

We're very much aligned I just don't think the motivations behind an impeachment are automatically political in motive even though the execution must come from the political realm.

Trump deserves to be impeached political machinations notwithstanding.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

I cant judge what is sexist towards a woman...I am a dude. Nothing you say offends me I just think it is a bit hypocritical to attack Rover for what he said when you have said similar stuff many times when describing women. (you seem to call a lot of the "homely" lately) I mean Rover may be sophomoric but your humor towards women is probably only in Grad School ;)

Trust me my super liberal GF says things way worse than what Rover said or you or I say. Hell her ripping Melania will make your head spin. What Rover said is tame. I think you overreacted a bit in part because Monica has created quite a life for herself after the shaming and disgraceful way she was treated not because it was really that offensive. That is understandable BTW.

OK, I get that. Pax vobiscum.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

Oh. My. God.

God forbid a corporation does something above and beyond the minimum.

From what I understand of a corporation's commitment to its shareholders that may very well be actionable. Which is an argument to change the legal definition of a corporation's commitments, not to sue those companies who complied with CA emissions.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

And Republicans are blaming the Democrats for the 36 billion that Trump is taking from other priorities for his wall.

Dems? ****ing do some oversight. This is bull****. These ****ers always own the narrative.

I don't know why you conclude from Republicans blaming Dems that they "own the narrative."

You will never stop Republicans and the Echo Chamber from lying. You will never stop Republican voters from believing them. The only way to put a halt to that would be to impose restrictions on lying in political speech that would be FAR worse than the disease.

In the immortal words of Stork (the brilliant and tragic writer Douglas Kenney) in Animal House, "what the hail you want us to do ya moron?"

They own the narrative because they do press better than the Dems. Dems need better marketing. Perez sucks at his job.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

Again, I ask what will that achieve? The GOP people are elected by folks who believe he is OK and are self delusional enough to be apologists for anything that would be unacceptable in any other human being. I am unclear what labeling what is already known achieves.

I don't think he is capable of a filter. The only thing that stops his impulses is if the 'right' person decides they aren't ok. This isn't about him so much as the others that surround him and what they are willing to say is OK.

Because I want my grandkids to know there actually was an opposition. What you know to be true won't be in the historical notes. Dems will be lumped in with all the complicit Republicans at the end of the day. I can't believe no Dem has flipped the "lock her up" on him yet.

100% agree

It’s also nice to have a list when the tribunals start.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

It's the 'Republican' narrative, cause all you worry about are the consequences to Democrats should they impeach. That's what the Republicans push, that impeaching will hold disastrous consequences for the Democrats.

What if not impeaching is even more disastrous to the fortunes of the Democrats? You don't come at it from that angle, don't even consider it as a possibility. I know Rube doesn't. What if it's politically more advantageous for the Dems to impeach?

No one knows the answer. No one will know unless they actually impeach. So you want him impeached. So does Rube, or at least he says. But everyone's so afraid of actually doing it. Cause it may not be popular. It may not work. People may not like you as a result. Not cause its the right thing to do. The necessary thing to do

Today's Democrats in a nutshell.

I'm not afraid of impeaching him. Never have been.

The NOAA also issued a statement that the NWS Birmingham was wrong.

God help if he finds the Alabama National Guard Twitter account from *a day before* his stupid Tweet.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/HurricaneDorian?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#HurricaneDorian</a> models are beginning to more consistently show the storm tracking away from Alabama. We stand with our <a href="https://twitter.com/FLGuard?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@FLGuard</a> brethren, however. We have troops and equipment ready to head south when you call. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OneGuard?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OneGuard</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OneMission?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OneMission</a> <a href="https://t.co/ZuCweDslqU">https://t.co/ZuCweDslqU</a></p>— AL National Guard (@AlabamaNG) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlabamaNG/status/1167776017517355016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 31, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Meanwhile, people are dying in the Carolina's while this stupid debate continues to be fueled by our "President."

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

Speaking of reasons for impeachment... the House Oversight Committee has opened an investigation that is being stonewalled by the White House, the Pentagon, and the Air Force: Is Trump using the US Government to keep Turnberry resort afloat financially?

According to a letter the panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport — the closest airport to Trump Turnberry — since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a U.S. military base. The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

Taken together, the incidents raise the possibility that the military has helped keep Trump’s Turnberry resort afloat — the property lost $4.5 million in 2017, but revenue went up $3 million in 2018.

“The Defense Department has not produced a single document in this investigation,” said a senior Democratic aide on the oversight panel. “The committee will be forced to consider alternative steps if the Pentagon does not begin complying voluntarily in the coming days.”

Follow up...

And now the President of the National Weather Service Employees Organization doesn't have time for the NOAA's bullsh**:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Let me assure you the hard working employees of the NWS had nothing to do with the utterly disgusting and disingenuous tweet sent out by NOAA management tonight <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NOAA?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#NOAA</a></p>— Dan Sobien (@pres_nwseo) <a href="https://twitter.com/pres_nwseo/status/1170115531388719105?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 6, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

These statements don't jive. You'll try to reconcile them but you won't convince me. :)

Both are my opinions. One is based on what he has actually done, and the other is to curry favor amongst voters, which all politicians do.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

BTW, Slappy and I are cool. We disagree, much like Handy, Deutsche, and Kepler, but we can have a discussion. Unlike The Little Ball Of Hate.

At what point does the Secret Service take the nuclear car keys away from crazy grandpa?
