Re: POTUS 45:54: My Polls Are Better Than Your Polls
We all know racism died when Obama was elected. C'mon.

Beginning to think pence being called back last week was health related.

True. Franken's video where he pretends to grab someone's breast is much worse.
Is this your attempt to falsely equivocate?
Aww he fixed it. I liked earlier when it read "1000/24th", which is roughly equivalent to 41.6 Pocahonti.
I completely missed this nugget...

ANd jeebus, did he forget Melania's name?![]()
Maybe he’s unraveling more rapidly due to Epstein. Word is that trump panicked and made Barr not recuse himself
Are those British Standard or IEEE Pochahonti?
It's better than Picohonti, which of course is 1/1000000000000 of a honti.
Yeah, I noticed that that had happened. He rightfully needs to recuse himself if any standards at all are to be maintained for recusal. So, now that he's not we can throw that rule away forever as well. A lot of norms and rules have been destroyed during this Presidency.
Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I have never been a fan of "norms" for the very reason that only moral actors are held to them. Amoral actors are when they are most needed as guardrails... but precisely by being amoral they will blow through them.
A rule without legal compulsion is meaningless. Post Dump we need a whole series of new laws which limit executive behavior and codify the penalties for acting unconstitutionally across the government. This bunch has proven the honor system does not impede the dishonorable, and partisanship is such that voters will not stop bad actors who wear the correct jersey.
Kep, while I do not disagree there are laws in place for things like this and many other ethical standards.
The problem is always on the enforcement side.
In any lawful society Dump would be in jail a long ****ing time ago.
Well, maybe. We do have, kind of, a lawful civil society. If you think not try a holiday in Cambodia, or India, or Russia.
Here's the problem Dump has shown us. In "real life," if the most popular and richest man in town commits a terrible crime and there's proof it is at least possible for him to go to prison. In politics this can't happen if the politician's party has 51% of the power because the party and its members will simply deny reality and there is no mechanism to stop them.
Now maybe the norm of deciding criminal cases on facts will go away someday. Just as jurors still think of themselves as bound by reality, voters used to: a criminal of their party used to lose their support. It took 25 years of Hate Radio and Fox to separate right wing voters from facts -- now they just vote according to what they want to be true and ignore what is true because they are rewarded for that by the brainwashing apparatus set up to feed and exploit them.
The question is how to defeat that without also losing self determination. We need a system where people who live in reality are the electorate while people who have withdrawn into a fantasyland are treated well but not permitted to make decisions that impact the reality people. We essentially now have an entirely new class of "adult children" whose vote is worse than useless, it's pernicious. Or, rather, we've always had them but before they washed out. Now, for the first time, they've aligned politically. It could have happened to the Left; it actually happened to the Right.
It all comes down to a lack of imagination by the Founders. They never considered a situation where a criminal enterprise would gain the White House and Congress. It just wasn't a possibility. Yet, here we are and I'm becoming more concerned that we don't have an adequate backstop. You can say 2020, but I don't have a warm fuzzy about the GOP not castrating that final line of defense.
