Dump will go down as a would-be tyrant who was primarily stopped by his own stupidity and ineptitude. It's not going to be a good Historical Look that we didn't pursue impeachment of him because of immediate partisan calculation.

But the main job is to rid ourselves of this lethal threat, and the GOP obviously will not help because they are weaklings mired in cupidity, so given that it is entirely up to the Democrats to save America -- again -- it is the right move.

Investigate everything to hold him accountable. Cover him with his own crap without giving him an impeachment fight to rile up his base. Continue to have his flunkies arrested and charged.

I agree it's the right move but it's wrong to assume you'll take a political hit for it. The Republicans suffered nothing after the Clinton Impeachment. They won the White House, they got the Bush Tax Cuts, and they got their neocon war.

Heard today that the new Trump budget includes 1 trillion in cuts to Medicare/Medicaid. You can see what the plans were on Health Care all along.

I agree with Pelosi's strategy here. I wouldn't try to impeach him for just being an unhinged fukup. However she did take the heat off of Congresscritters in her caucus while leaving plenty of wiggle room for when Mueller shows evidence that is was Putin, and not Russian prostitutes, who were urinating on Chump on one of his Moscow trips, complete with videotape! :eek: :D

There's no reason to get ahead of yourself. Let Mueller send half of his underlings to jail first.

I like this move also. I wondered if the House Judiciary Committee was jumping ahead of Mueller, and this seems to have tapped the brakes to slow that momentum.

I sure hope the Dems don't shoot themselves in the foot after having a good two months so far.

Patience, dear boy, patience. Again, what's the end game here? I too would like to see a legal early end to the Chump Presidency but that won't happen with the cult still controlling the Senate. The end game is the total destruction of the GOP. Keep the indictments and criminal referrals going. Anybody who lied to Congress (which is pretty much everybody). Anybody taking money from Russia (the NRA, RNC, Trump Organization, etc). Congressmen using their office to stifle the investigation (Nunes, Graham). Lets get to the bottom of all of it. If we can destroy the treasonous money laundering cult and send its leadership to jail, it may survive but in a much more diminished form. That's a tradeoff I'll take in exchange for 4 years of the worst President in history.

Four years later, the president is, in fact, proposing deep cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. As the New York Times reported, Trump’s newly proposed budget completes the trifecta by targeting Social Security, too. The administration also proposes spending $26 billion less on Social Security programs, including a $10 billion cut to the Social Security Disability Insurance program.

This should be put around every single Republicans neck for 2020. Especially after the 1.5 Trillion dollar cut for the 1%.

Republican voters will vote for their guy no matter what. Democratic voters are finicky.

That said it isnt the political hit so much as the waste of time. Not only will it distract from everything else going on but the endgame is the Senate GOP will make sure it dies on the vine. Then Trump gets to declare victory and play up conspiracy theories. Investigate and arrest everyone involved and make sure everyone knows how it gets back to Trump. But dont impeach unless you can win.

I would impeach him if Mueller shows us treasonous collusion with Russia. Let Collins explain her vote to acquit while waving to people at the Bangor Int'l Airport. ;) Same goes for Gardner, Tillis, Ernst and McSally. Not to mention every Gooper Congressman in a swing district.
