The best classes I took in college were taught by professors who thought completely differently than I. It's actually part of the reason I like coming to these political threads.![]()
I have lived in Sweden for many years and still visit and work there from time-to-time. The country is very close to having both a social and economic bubble bursting. I believe there are 55 "no-go zones" in all of Sweden(most in the southern parts). This means ambulances when going into these areas have police escorts and police tend to stay out of the area due to fake emergencies and there cars being lit on fire. In Sweden it is illegal for the police to state the race or what the criminal looks like...to avoid profiling. They have taken in way too many people in such a short time that they have kicked Swedes out of housing to make room for new residents to the country.
On the economic bubble bursting....The housing market in Stockholm is out of control. The apartment prices have been skyrocketing for about 15 years and the mortgage terms are crazy by US standards. The way it is set up, it would take 100 years to pay off the apartment, people's mortgage bill is almost all interest and "condo fees". The idea is that you just keep upgrading apartments, because you can sell your apartment for a large profit in a year or two. When the bubble hits, you will have most of Stockholm unable to pay off there apartments/cars/etc. People in Stockholm generally, live paycheck to paycheck with the fall back being they can always sell there apartment for a nice profit.
In regards to the comments made that an attack happened over the weekend is in accurate, but the light has been shined on Sweden and the problems they are currently experiencing from taking in mass refugees without much of a plan or housing for them.
Back to topics on these threads, the great divide amongst the American people is unreal. A divided people is much easier to control for both government parties....which in the end are probably the same people running both.
I wonder if Drew watched the 60 Minutes piece on the Remington (700?) and if so what he thought about it. If anything is he aware of the consistent problems with the weapon and Remington's refusal to own up to it.
There are no degrees of murder to the victim. They're dead. Claiming the punishment should be worse because of an aggravating factor is saying that factor is more valuable than the life that was taken, or that one life is more valuable than another.

True story. Sometime in the 1970's I purchased a Remington 1100 shotgun. Maybe 20 years ago, and 20 years after I bought the gun, I received one of those mailings we often receive saying that I was included in a class action lawsuit in which it was alleged the barrel was deficient and could blow up in your face when fired.I heard about this year's ago. They should pay through the nose for what happened. It's the gun equivalent of the Ford Pinto scandal.

I eagerly awaited my large settlement check, and probably 9 months later I got a check in the mail for $12.79, as I recall. I took that more as a commentary on my face than the actual amount of my "damages", but I haven't fired that shotgun since.
The only people that make out on a class action settlement are lawyers. It's a punishment for the company and a windfall for the lawyer. The actual plaintiffs get a few bucks.
The fact that the government can't require a mandatory recall like with other consumer products is troubling.
I didn't realize that was the case. It's too bad the whole thing is so politicized.

I laughed out loud. Very nice.
I once got a refund check as a customer who was price gouged by Portland Gas & Electric in the 90s. I hadn't even heard about the lawsuit, hadn't applied for reimbursement, and had moved several times while they were adjudicating. I was a PGE customer for only about 4 years. My check was for over $800. I was floored. Even better, for a year I was actually a contractor at PGE writing their technical documentation, so my power bills were being paid out of PGE paychecks.
I've always been lucky.![]()
