I want those on this board who continually carry water for trump to defend his CPAC speech. By any fair accounting, he was stupid, unfocused, and told one lie after another. Credibly refute or explain just a single passage noted in this article from the Atlantic. I dare you. Cite proof that what he said was either true, or makes any sense. Truth is, you can't.

Strangely enough, the people who should be doing the most to rid us of trump are the people who identify themselves as "conservative." Your movement is a fvcking joke in 2019 when you refuse to condemn trump for all he is, stupid, racist, unbalanced and most likely severely mentally ill, and the biggest kicker of them all, a Russian dupe.

trump is not the problem. He is symptom. The 63,000,000 people who voted for him and don't have the wherewithal or love of country to condemn him for what he's proven himself to be are the real problem. It is no longer enough to claim you did not vote for him. Anything short of active, explicit condemnation of trump is more than tacit approval. It means you are the real problem.

I just heard someone say that the Democrats will move farther to the left than the Republicans moved to the right in the last decade. I cannot BELIEVE how stupid some of the people are.

That trump obstructed justice is now just like human caused climate change. It is settled science. There is overwhelming evidence, circumstantial, direct and empirical, that he committed crimes, both during the campaign and since he was elected and inaugurated. Whether or not you believe either climate change to be happening or obstruction by trump to have occurred both now depends on two things: your level of intelligence and the political party you support.

I'd love a move to the left by democrats. First they will have to halt their decades long (since the mid-70s at least) drift to the right. If we elect every single democrat that runs in 2020 we MIGHT be as liberal as we were in 1965. Last time I checked we were not a socialist country in 1965.

I don't think Obama ever had the loyalty in Congress that Trump has right now from Jim Jordan, Kevin McCarthy, Lindsey Graham, etc. It's pretty stunning.

They're the "good Germans" who did nothing, while their democratic institutions wee destroyed by their autocratic leader and his followers, all in the name of holding power.


But that could never happen here. Americans wouldn't so meekly watch their institutions crumble. They'd stand and fight for their Constitution and the principles of democracy. Right?
