It's a classic righty trope that the New Deal extended the Great Depression. In actuality FDR pulled back from New Deal policies (because of pressure from those who were uncomfortable with democratic socialist policies) and that extended the depression -- exactly the opposite of what the Plutes want you to think. The Kochs et al have been beavering away for decades brainwashing their minions in this kind of alternative history. It's what they do. The fact is the redistribution of the New Deal mitigated the Great Depression and created the American middle class, while the war against those policies conducted by the Plutes and their useful idiots ever since destroyed the middle class and the American economy. Unrestricted capitalism is an inefficient economic system for the same reason that a car without brakes doesn't go for very long.
Exactly. Roosevelt's New Deal policies saved this country from the Great Depression, but in the mid to late 30's, because of Republican whining, he backed off on the amount and extent of government spending, and predictably, the economy cratered again.
Thank God he got us into WWII, so all that sweet government spending provided the juice the economy needed to kick the GD once and for all.
