There are a handful of exiled/zotted Freepers who were casualties of the Trump/Cruz primary war because they were too fierce in their opinion that Mango Mussolini was a Dem in conservative lion's clothing. They're still bigoted fcks who probably like his court picks and tax cuts, and will likely vote for him in 2020 rather than sit at home, but if and when Trump does finally go down, they'll be the first ones to slither out of the woodwork crowing that they "knew all along" that nominating a New York swamp rat was a mistake.

I hate Faux News and elected republicans as much as anyone, but nowhere in that clip did I hear Larry Elder say the New Deal CREATED the great Depression. I heard him say it deepened or lengthened it. That's a distinction worth noting. In technical terms, the recession that came to be known as the cause of what became to be known as the Great Depression did begin long before FDR was elected, in the summer of 1929. It also actually ended around the time FDR took office, although the economic misery of the Great Depression did not end then. The economy only began to expand again. But in 1937 and 1938 the economy took a pretty severe downturn again and that was commonly referred to as a "Roosevelt Recession." It was more likely caused by a marked cut in government spending though -- those New Deal programs did cost a lot of money -- than by the New Deal programs themselves, something Elder did not bother to elaborate on.

Unrestricted capitalism is an inefficient economic system for the same reason that a car without brakes doesn't go for very long.
