Relax. Ultimately, this will get decided by the courts, and we'll get a definition of what constitutes a "national emergency". My guess is, it gets limited to large-scale disasters and wartime.

We can only hope for such rationality and sanity.

Like I posited before, a national emergency should only exist by Executive Order until the Legislative branch can convene and take appropriate legislative action. At that point the national emergency should automatically vacate.

I still see no reason to have the President have exceptional authority over funds in those cases, and every reason for the President NOT to have it.

Congress can f-cking do its job, and I will not relax until Cornell wins a game without Cam Donaldson in the lineup. You want an emergency? That's an emergency.

BTW, you are right on this one, but I also fear you are far too much of a puritan on the idea of a democratic republic in 21st century America. If we don't rein in executive orders and national emergencies, the ship is sailing.

Does anyone else find it curious that the WH and the Justice Dept have had nothing to say about a suspected terrorist attack?

They've said plenty of a made up attack. Something that could have threatened MAGA people.

But nothing of a plot against many of dumpy's opponents.

Why is that? Why are people so fast in burying a story about a guy who has assembled a large mass of weapons, have developed target ideas, has spouted civil war thoughts over impeachment.... And his targets are top D politicians and many of the media.

A big nothing from dumpy or Justice.

hmm...

So much for our democracy.

How many houses with $14,000 worth of guns and ammo would you like to visit? My car has a full tank of gas. Correction: $28,000 collection ($14k x 2 years). Just the same, I can name a handful of hunters and collectors within 50 miles of me.

I wonder if one of the better results of the Mueller investigation would be evidence that is insufficient to remove trump but sufficient to unelect him. That way, both he and Pence are out of the picture.

On the other hand, if he survives the investigation but is unelected, he will wreck all the toys that aren't his during a two month tantrum.

If he was targeting the fearless leader, it would be big news, I bet.

And we are comparing the news with other news that DOJ and the WH ARE paying attention to an tweeting about.

Funny that you are so critical of Mueller, but now, when we are faced with a potential shooting, we should just let the process run it's course. :rolleyes:

At least the WH should be saying that we should scale back any feelings like that. If the accusations are true or not, they should say that- nobody should be a actual target of a weapon.

What have I said about Mueller? Let him finish. (I wish he was done one way or the other, but he needs to finish.)

What am I saying about this FBI/DOJ investigation? Let them finish. We want to get all the co-conspirators if there are any. (And the publicly known threat is jailed so he can't do harm or communicate to others if there are any.)


And to be frank, why isn't the Coastie a bigger story: that "Empire" self-immolation in progress is eating up way too much 'news' bandwidth.

You've constantly questioned why it's taking so long, which, at the moment, is 1/2 the time that Ken Starr personally spent on White Water....

So we pay attention to a guy who staged a fake attack, and ignore someone who was apparently planning a real one? Once again, the WH can step in and cool down ALL of the rhetoric, which happens to be covering both subjects at the same time. But instead of cooling it down, he's raising the whole crucifixion of MAGA. This whole thing can be scaled down, but no, the WH is scaling it up farther.

Great idea. And people like you are totally ok with it. Such a great country we have....

Meanwhile another Trump guy is going to jail (Stone). And if you think you're going to tell me that Trump just works with criminals, and hires criminals, and fires criminals and isn't a criminal himself I've got some prime real estate in Nevada to sell.
